Is it common at all for the Captain to permit an upgrade from coach to 1st class for a fellow aviator. I'm talking about a CFI or commerical pilot other than a 121 guy.
 
Yes, CASS is up and running. Please be patient if you ask for the cockpit jumpseat and the gate agent tells you that you can't sit in the cockpit. Ask for a supervisor and mention that a customer service instruction sheet was sent out to all CSR's and that it is a few quick entries. They can also call the help desk.

If you are Pinnacle please make sure that you use 9E as your code and not NW. Gate agents have been getting this wrong and a Pinnacle guy was denied a seat that he should have had.
