I just got an interview with Avantair. Anybody have any recent info on them. I did do a search but came up with older info. Thanks in advance.

Interveiw is next week and held in Reno.

I know a friend who interviewed last week and was offered a job after the interview. 1st year pay is $25k for F/O's and $42k for Capt's. 2nd yr. Capt. pay is $44k with an annual 2% cola raise each subsequent year of longevity with the company. He was told that there was a yearly bonus of $3-4k each year, though another pilot told him that it was paid quarterly. Per Diem was $1.58 per/hour TAFB. Schedule is 7 days on / 5 days off. There is a 1 year training contract but the cost was not disclosed. Standard interview questions etc... and give a full brief on an instrument procedure and approach into a mountainous terrain / high altitude airport. They have 14 a/c now and plan on having 52 by end of 2007, I believe. Something like 1 a/c every 45 days or so. One week of basic indoc. training and then 2 weeks training for systems, etc.. The flight training portion is done in the aircraft as there is no simulator yet. There is no bidding for schedules and there is no company dispatching of flights. The pilots average about 70 hours each month and about 2-4 legs a day. Seems that things, in general, are slowly improving with time at Avant Air. As for the bases question, I am not certain what other bases there are besides Reno at this time. Will know more next week.

upgrade at Avant

from what I gather so far upgrade is almost immediate if you have the qualifications. I will try to find out what those quals are.

AvantAir insight follow-up.

TomTom & Psy. :

Bases: Right now its Reno, NV.; St. Pete, FL.; and some
NJ. airport south of Teterboro, as I hear. More
bases to come with the additional aircraft.

Upgrade: Yes, it can be immediate. Obviously however,
it depends on your past experience
and flight time. You can start as a Capt., or
upgrade in maybe less than a year, if you have
sufficient multi-engine turbine or jet PIC time. I
haven't heard what the magic numbers are to
upgrade, but the pay wouldn't attract alot of jet
qualified pilots, except when hunger pains start!

Commute: A lot of the trips do not originate from the base.
AvantAir will commercial you to the location of
the aircraft, where you will then begin your
trip. However, AvantAir wants you to be within
a 2 hour drive to your base, evidently. Most
important is to be where you are suppose to be
at the appropriate time.

Cant afford the pay cut

Sound's like a great Gig, I talked with the D.O. at NBAA some time ago. I dont think I could afford to take a 20k hit right now.

I've parked next to those guys numerous times and talked to them a couple times. Obviously, the pay could be better but they seemed to enjoy their job. Avanti looked like a fun aircraft to fly.
