going public only makes the rich CEO richer. While those guys at avatair are taking pay cuts into the mid 5 figures, management is giving themselves bonuses and deciding next how to use their skills as masters of the universe.

I forgot the final number, but Avantair was able to raise several million $ in fresh capital through a private placement of stock since they were public. This fresh capital a few years back probably would not have been available if they were still a private company.

Karl Marx is posting now. Hi Karl!

The unions caused the high pay for senior captains, putting downward pressure on the pay of junior pilots at majors and especially all pilots at the regionals.

So what are you proposing for the aviation industry? Equal pay at all jobs regardless of aircraft type, rank or longevity with a given airline or company? Your the one sounding like Karl Marx...

G4 dude, if you prefer at will employment & think senior pilots are over paid cause you don't think your worth anything... Well Avantair would be the perfect place for you! Resign your post at NetJets and leave that horrible union situation in your past. I am sure Avantair would love to hire you into some special position like "Captain of Pay Scale Propaganda" to promote their new pay scale freeze & equally lower pay for everyone!

One thing. The Avantair guys were pretty decent to the rest of us when our companies furloughed. Why all the hate?

No hate on my part toward the Avantair pilots. Just don't like rats.

Especially rats that are responsible for keeping others harnessed to the humiliation of at-will employment.

Special place in hell for guys like GlassP. Dante would have him down with Judas, Brutus and Cassius.

In the interest of fairness, should the employee who is working under a contract that negates "at will" employment be bound to remain an employee for the duration of the contract?

Not that anyone would ever want to resign if a better offer came along.

Praetorian, care to explain?

Your one to talk Praetorian with your union company doing down grades with pay cuts. The company wanted to freeze pay for down grades, but your union said NO take a pay cut. NICE!

Praetorian, care to explain what is going on at Flops with these pay cuts?

In the contract it states what the pay is for each position.

Right or wrong everyone knew there would be a pay cut if you went to a smaller aircraft. Just like everyone knew that you would be displaced in order of seniority. Just like the company knew that those displaced pilots could bump into other positions.

To disregard the contract for 5 pilots benefit would be great if you were one of the 5 pilots. But what happens when the company asks to disregard the contract for 19 pilots who were just displaced and want to exercise their bumping rights into other aircraft.

Or what if the company wants to give extra pay to some of their good old boys such as the senior flight officer program should that also be allowed?

How can we expect the company to follow the contract if we are not willing to do so.
