Comair was on strike prior to 9-11. We supported their efforts just as every other airline did. But, their contract was the last one negotiated in that environment.

AWAC's contract was negotiated before 9/11 also.

70 hr guarantee per bid, or 910 for the year

AWAC 2nd year $36.08 and when the TA goes into effect $33.56 (which is because UAL wavied MESA at all the UEX carriers) and low ball bids had to be submitted, still way better than MESA.

75 hour guarantee (line or reserve). 12 min days off, the list goes on.

If hear one more time how it is that Comair "raised the bar" for everyone and Mesa let everyone down, I am going to SCREAM. Does anyone, ANYONE who supports Comair recognize that they struck pre-9/11, and things just MIGHT be different in 2003??

The great thing about this (or any) message board(s) is that you can feel free to bash someone without any repercussions. I dare you guys to talk this kind of smack to a Mesa pilot's face.

I think that a judge could be easily convinced that the black eye you received was your own fault.

Mesa Bashing

All the Mesa bashing cracks me up. Never let the facts get in the way of my opinion. Also, never let logic interfere with my emotions. Unbelieveable.....

Also, economy drives just about everything in the airline industry. All of you that seem to hate Mesa also seem to be the ones that voted in concessions pretty quick. Amazing what one can do to try and save their own job.

And let's not forget the fact that prior to all of this we were code sharing with two airlines on the brink of Chapter 7. Hard to set an industry leading contract with that. Oh yeah, and industry leading contracts are awesome, just ask all the guys at United and American.

Quit making it personal guys. Our contract was an improvement, maybe not as much as all of you would have liked, but sometimes these things take time. Plus, look on the bright side...everyone is worried about Mesa taking over the world....take it from someone on the inside, this company cannot find its a$$ with both hands and a road map.

And One Tuff Guy, not to be personal, but don't be a hypocrite. If Mesa is so bad and you hate us so much, find another way home. Don't ride the airline....I'll bet you're all smiles when you're talking to the crew trying to get home.

You don't get it do you. We know the facts. We know how you were played. We know your old contract was bad. But we were counting on you guys to be stand up guys, look at what has happened in history and not repeat it. You were played as suckers and that is why you have earned no respect.

The Mesa guys did what they had to do to pay the bills. Whining about it won't resolve something that ALREADY HAPPENED. This whole argument about screwing the rest of the industry is total crap. Whatever egalitarian tendencies that existed in this industry are long gone and probably will never return. So deal, find something more constructive to talk about, and move on. I was just at our (SkyWest) I-share forums board and what I read was amazing. Since Mesa has been doing UEX from GJT-DEN it has been nothing but a HUGE HEADACHE. For 5 straight days in a row one week the first flight out (Yep, a MESA Dash-8) was either cancelled or delayed. One flight was cancelled because there were seatbelts missing. Whats worse is that you guys have a Frickin' MX BASE ON THE FIELD AND THEY COULDN't GET SEATBELTS TO COMPLETE A FLIGHT!!

It's almost comical to read. Hey you guys are right though, the economy is in the gutter and cost is the bottom line, not quality. Right? If UAL ever comes out of BK I wonder how much business they will be turning away, AGAIN!

Hey Jeepman, that whole line oyu told is a lie. I spoke with the station manager in DEN and it didnt happen. But I a person were to review your posts they are all anti-mesa. So why do you have to spread crap. We all know you work for SKYW, home of the 50-99 SEAT PAY RATE!!!! Guess that makes you guys sellouts!!

Management, at any company, must love it when they read this board. Pilots fighting other pilots.

Guys and Gals it does not matter what company you work for, we all do the exact same job. We are not the enemy, management is the enemy.

The Mesa deal did not help move the bar up. They did try to get a better deal. Skywest guys that are bashing them are a little short sighted. They can not even try to fight their management. They will never be able to raise the bar for any section in their "contract." Mesa when times are better will try once again to get a industry leading contract. And when that time comes I will be in their corner supporting their efforts.
