A wise man once said: Winning an argument on the Internet is like winning at the special olympics. Nice job, but you're still a retard. Get over yourselves gentlemen. The Mesa guys did what they had to do to pay the bills. Whining about it won't resolve something that ALREADY HAPPENED. This whole argument about screwing the rest of the industry is total crap. "Stand up for your brothers" they say. BS. This is a dog eat dog business and if you cant hang, then go work for the march of dimes. Whatever egalitarian tendencies that existed in this industry are long gone and probably will never return. So deal, find something more constructive to talk about, and move on. Even better, save your breath lambasting mesa guys about a godawful situation and focus your energy on how we can fix it.

I was just at our (SkyWest) I-share forums board and what I read was amazing. Since Mesa has been doing UEX from GJT-DEN it has been nothing but a HUGE HEADACHE. For 5 straight days in a row one week the first flight out (Yep, a MESA Dash-8) was either cancelled or delayed. One flight was cancelled because there were seatbelts missing. Whats worse is that you guys have a Frickin' MX BASE ON THE FIELD AND THEY COULDN't GET SEATBELTS TO COMPLETE A FLIGHT!!

It's almost comical to read. Hey you guys are right though, the economy is in the gutter and cost is the bottom line, not quality. Right? If UAL ever comes out of BK I wonder how much business they will be turning away, AGAIN!

Hey Jeepman, that whole line oyu told is a lie. I spoke with the station manager in DEN and it didnt happen. But I a person were to review your posts they are all anti-mesa. So why do you have to spread crap. We all know you work for SKYW, home of the 50-99 SEAT PAY RATE!!!! Guess that makes you guys sellouts!!

Please cite facts before mesa bashing again. You're losing credibility.

OH that is frickin pricless.

A FREAKIN MESA PILOT bashing someone else for accepting a bad deal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Christ at least their 50 seat rates are standard. This is just too rich.

Management, at any company, must love it when they read this board. Pilots fighting other pilots.

Guys and Gals it does not matter what company you work for, we all do the exact same job. We are not the enemy, management is the enemy.

The Mesa deal did not help move the bar up. They did try to get a better deal. Skywest guys that are bashing them are a little short sighted. They can not even try to fight their management. They will never be able to raise the bar for any section in their "contract." Mesa when times are better will try once again to get a industry leading contract. And when that time comes I will be in their corner supporting their efforts.

Once again we get enlightened from someone who either is not part of the airline game, or has been in it too short to have developed a valid opinion.

"Stand up for your brothers" they say. BS.

By doing this, you are standing up for yourself by consequence.

This is a dog eat dog business and if you cant hang, then go work for the march of dimes.

Take your Corporate America selfishness and YOU go work for the march of dimes. Until recently, this has NOT been a dog eat dog profession. It was like a good club, almost a brotherhood.

Whatever egalitarian tendencies that existed in this industry are long gone and probably will never return.

Look at history, Professor Economics. It always has, and it will again. But it is going to take a while. It won't matter though, as long as people like you exist. You have the true grit of a natural born quitter.

I can understand the corner these guys were in. Being the first ones to have to deal with this issue, Freedumb, etc. But the agreement let Ornstein essentially take over the world. And it is being done at the Mesa pilots expense. And that of the airlines JO is digesting like a sick kind of cancer. The sad thing is that there are some who think that THEY came out on top in this. Only one guys is laughing, and that's JO.

get a ride somewhere on MESA are you kidding me? I would rather drive a golf cart or walk home, however i do not commute so it wont be a problem. Why would anyone want to ride on you anyways? Lets see a few of your pilots seemed to need help flying into Roanoke, and then the crew the next morning did not notice the hole ? Let me ask you a question how nose up does the jungle jet need to be to scrape the tail? Also when an oil pressure light comes on why would you keep flying to Toronto? hmm it is kinda hard to talk off again after you ruin an engine. Air shuttle is not a good call sign for you guys, it should Scare Shuttle.

TuffGuy, Who did you say that you work for again? (Are you even a 121 pilot or maybe someone that flunked out of ground school at Mesa?) Has your company ever had an accident? The pilots involved in the Virginia incident were all let go as they should have been. If you want to bring up this accident, why aren't you talking about the Coex ERJ off the runway CLE, or the Great Lakes that forgot to put the gear down. Things happen (thank god no one was hurt in any of these accidents), and individual pilots actions, good or bad don't speak for a pilot group of over 1500. Your an idiot like your name. No surprise there.

Jetdriven,

Your partially right. Those five days in a row I was speaking of the flights were delayed not cancelled. I guess what frustrates me is that I read about that stuff and wonder how it's gonna effect SkyWests bottom line when people don't fly UEX anymore, but it was United's decision to go back to Mesa, not yours so I can't get too mad at Mesa.

Yes, we currently have the same pay for 50-99 seat A/C, but we aren't even getting our first 70 until 04'. And last I checked there was a HUGE difference between our 50 seat rate and yours.

Why do you even defend your company when you post an Avatar like you have. ARE YOU NOT PROUD TO WORK FOR MESA???

P.S. Please use spell check

Beantown as a matter of fact I do work for a 121 and no we have not had an accident or incident as lame as MESA has. As for your facts get them straight before you speak up COEX erj ran off the runway due to ice at the airport. It is a surprise that more planes did not have problems those days. I remember flying those days and sitting in deice line. In fact that day the storms where so bad all flights in and out of many Midwest and east coast cities where cancelled. As for the great lakes incident the gear warning indicator was not operational on the beech 1900 if you read the NTSB report with all the CVR data you would know this. But what does it matter, you still work for MESA and that explains why you are so miserable in life…

Yep, he's so miserable he has to put his lousy two cents in and bash Mesa.

Oh, wait... Never mind.

I have to admit that I got a good laugh out of that last comment... BEANTOWN is miserable?! I am unfamiliar with Beantown proving he's got nothing better to do in life than complain about other companies, pretending he's "tuff" but proving that he is anything but. Pot, meet the kettle, as you are both black.

Good to see you can spread your crabbiness around, attempting to hijack the Chicago Express thread being your latest foray into pot-stirring.

Be sure you keep your alleged 121 job, as you sure won't make it in the world of proofreading, be assured of THAT.

I won't even get into why it is that you are defending the Great Lakes crew that missed "Gear Down" on three separate before-landing checklists, regardless of the inoperative status of the gear warning horn...

...or the EJ crew and the "ice" at the CLE airport on "those days".

A quick read of the NTSB preliminary report shows the following, inescapable fact. The squat switch on the aircraft switched from air to ground .38nm, or approximately 2400ft, from the DME antenna at approx 150kts.

The DME antenna was co-located with the localizer antenna 510ft beyond the end of the runway.

Simple math tells us that the airplane apparently touched down about 1900ft from the end of the runway, or alternately, nearly a full statute mile from the beginning of the available runway length.

Since there were 6800 feet of runway available, an obvious question needs to be asked...

"Why is tuffie saying that Beantown needs to keep his facts straight when he doesn't have any facts of his own?"

And as a preemptive note, EJ pilots, this is not an attempt to bash you or your company, just to point out that tuffie's story is as full of holes as a slice of Swiss Cheese. And yes, I am aware that the report is preliminary.

One Tuff Guy, not to harp on a subject, but if you would never ride Mesa, why is it in a previous post you claim to have heard the flight attendants making stupid jokes on the 900 while you were trying to sleep?

And just because COEX has not had a 'stupid accident like Mesa' as you so eloquently put it does not mean your pilots are better....just lucky for the time being. And luck is a finite resource.

Mesa Lifer I do not ride on MESA on my own free will however at times we have been forced to deadhead on MESA.

Okay, here's something a stupid AirMidwest (Mesa) pilots did out of CLT. Taxing to 36R, the Tower told them to turn into the C2 by pass to get them out in front of a Jet that didn't have there numbers and was at the end of the Runway. They told the tower that they didnt have C2 numbers to depart, but could go to C3. The tower didn't response to the idoits. And they were to told to taxi into postion and hold C2. They said again they could depart C2 and got on the runway, taxing down it to C3 and they departed off 36R. Not knowing that that numbers allowed from C3 then back to the end of the runway!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What scares me is that there were TWO dummies that thought they were doing the right thing. My GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I couldnt believe it, and everyone got a kick out of them taxing down the runway till they were abeam C3 and then pushed up the power.
My point, you pay banana's and you get a bunch of Monkeys!!!

LOL

Lookit what we have here! Another pilot who has never made a mistake or misunderstood something!

Fancy that!

Ahhhh, if only we could stick a camera in your cockpit and see how long it takes YOU to do something stupid. You have a long way to go to prove to me that Mesa pilots are any worse than any other pilot group.

Okay a mistake is a mistake, but a pilot with a ATP and another Commerical Pilot next to him shouldn't make that mistake.
I screw up all the time (matter a fact, i stink as a pilot...heheheh), but that was a funny story to share with the rest of the Mesa Bashers....
You feel better! Hope So!
Good Day

PS!!!!!!
And another one!!!
From the mouth of a ATP Mesa Pilot in ROA!!!!!!

Go Around Is No Option!!!!!!!

Good Day
