I agree with your statement, but I don't want to be naive to the realities of the airline industry. Many great airlines that had pilots with a similar success story as yours ended their career not at the same airline. For the past 20 years SW has treated you great and I hope SW has at least 20 more successful years ahead. Funny enough, if this deal goes through, I need 30+ years of SW success. That is A LOT of years....I'm just saying the best one decade can be the worst the next. More reasons to have this merger (yes the SEC filing on 2/1/11 by SW used the word merger hundreds of times and acquisition only a few) be a successful one with the revenue synergies achieved in the quickest possible time.

No kidding. Some forget that much of that success was based on a lucky bet 2 guys made about 10 years ago. They even admit as much. And yet doods who somehow think they were a part of that decision still think otherwise. Had that "lucky bet" not been made, most of the wn posters here would have different avatars. Just sayin'

Honest question: Why is arbitration a good idea? I hear things like: fair, deserve, Bond-Mckaskil, etc... The bottom line with arbitration is that no one knows what the heck will happen. So why gamble on a lawyer ruling for your team? ATN is sure arbitration will go to some kind of relative seniority. SWA is sure arbitration will end up in DOH or less. Explain.

I hope you don't fly anytime soon after hitting the bong. Are you high? No SWA pilot is hoping for anything near DOH. I mean no offense, but let's see, I got hired at SWA on date X and you got hired at AT on date X (same DOH). Back then, and even a few months ago, everyone would agree that you'd rather be at SWA, making my pay, with my contract, etc. Just go back a year ago and read the AT posts on this forum. Just look at all of the AT guys we had applying here, and are currently flying here. Clearly, even guys way junior to me at SWA had it better than you at AT (no offense, just the facts). DOH would be a screw job, and ain't gonna happen, even in arbitration. Relative? You've got to be smoking crack. Even at the bottom of our list, pay protected, most if not all AT pilots come out ahead. That's why the ones who could get hired here left AT and did just that. Not even pay protected they chose to jump ship. DOH would be an absolute windfall to AT pilots, which is not legal. I agree though, arbitration it will be in all likelihood.

If the whole thing falls apart, I think it's safe to say that it was the AirTran side, more specially AirTran ALPA. What a shame, senior AirTran guys ruining it for everybody. Just like I predicted from the very beginning.

Air tran still very much has a say in their destiny. Attitude is a lot.

Bob, you are Spot on

The ALPA job killing machine never misses an opportunity to miss an opportunity, if this deal goes south it will be because of the small group of hard core senior ALPA wackos that think they are entitled to what is not theirs.

If the citrus guys do not get a muzzle and a very short leash on the ALPA attack dogs this deal may go south quick.

Cheers

As long as Ty and his followers continue down the road they are on, ALPA will survive. It will take the junior pilots to start to take control of their destiny. This group that follows people like Ty has been the problem for many years. They will poison SWA if and when they get a chance. The only good thing is there are only 1700 of them compared to 6000 with SWA. Good luck. All the employee groups would like to see this group changed.

Do you even realize that our MEC Chairman, MEC Vice Chairman, and LEC Chairman are all FO's, and have been, ever since ALPA was voted on the property?

Why don't you stick to what you know . . . . alienating pax and making up delay codes.

You are so easy. It does not take much to bring you out of your hole. Now go back in.

Friend, if you are who you say you are then you need to ask yourself, are you helping the situation by antagonizing your fellow coworkers or hurting the situation?

I was thinking the same thing. What is this guys goal coming on the thread and offending his co-workers. Which he believes is holding his future in their hands. What about the pilot's future? They have to fight for what is right for them and their family.

I want to help you and Ty but it is very hard because you think you deserve more than you are entitled to. I do not want 1700 people to screw it up for the others. Why do you think your group is entitled to more than the rest. You are not entitled to more and hopefully the majority will realize that before you screw the whole deal up. Now, help Ty back into his hole. You need to talk to him and tell him not to be so easy. You would think being in his position he would be a little smarter but I guess he is just like the rest of us.

Friend, I have stated to the many Southwest pilots on this board that I don't feel entitled to anything, I will be happy regardless of the outcome. This process is out of my hands and yours too.

Just curious, what are the first digits of your employee number, what is your three digit department code (found on your I.D.), what is your non-rev boarding letter? I have a feeling that you are not who you say you are.

If I send you an IM with the information do you promise not to give it Ty or post it on this site?

Don't do it! It's a trap!!!!

Ha! Ha! Ha! (in a sinister laugh) yeeeessss, the ALPA Deadly Viper Assassination Squad (DVAS) has already been notified! You better watch out too, my friend!

I thought this was a pretty funny point of view from APC.

Its actually a bit amusing to me that this process of negotiating Process is taking so much time.

AirTran ALPA talks about the strong, firm language in their Section 1. Particularly the part about the 18 months for seperate ops, which they say must be adhered to. They say 18 months is more than enough time to fully integrate the operations of two airlines. They are now stretching the process of negotiating Process to nearly 1/3 of the time they think SWA should be able to fully integrate.

You guys should just have sex already.

It is going to be like you're a married couple - afterwards both of you are disappointed and yet still find yourselves in the same bed and it's too painful and expensive to do anything about it.

LOL.... The truth hurts!

ROFLMAO! That's hilarious... considering it's the junior pilots who killed T.A.'s 1 & 2, who crammed MemRat down the NPA's throat, brought ALPA on property and abolished the NPA, and who now control the union.

Seriously...

MEC Chairman - F/O
MEC Vice Chairman - F/O
LEC 71 Chairman - F/O
LEC 71 Vice Chair - Junior Reserve CA
Merger Committee - two F/O's, one Junior Reserve CA, one senior CA.

In other words, the junior pilots at this airline took control of their destiny about 3 1/2 years ago. Additionally, you're really giving the pilot group WAY too much credit thinking we would be able to kill a deal of this magnitude... which NONE of us want to do incidentally.

Sorry for the brief reality check; we now return you to your regularly-scheduled FI mud slinging. ;)

You know, I think most of us have realized it's going to be at least a year if not two and have gone back into just enjoying daily life mode. I can't complain, I'm getting 80 hours of credit on 18 days off, a 24 hour international (PUJ, CUN, AUA, etc) or LAS or SFO overnight at least once each trip, and with the raise we got in December, at least I'm earning a decent wage now for what I do. Not Southwest money, for sure, but with this kind of quality of life, I'm not worried if it takes a while to get it right.

We're all asking our MEC to proceed carefully, get it done right, but GET IT DONE. With all our MEC officers relatively junior (and young), they have a LOT of years they need to continue working in aviation and they need this as much as the rest of us do. That's why I'm not worried they're going to "burn down the house" or any other such thing, they have to live in it with the rest of us.

Hoping things work out sooner than later, if only for the cost savings to the new, combined company, and trying not to let the ups and downs of the process (no pun intended) get to me. Sorry this is frustrating you guys too, I know the unknowns of what it will do to everyone's seniority is a little scary, just have to have faith that it will all turn out well in the end. :)

Fly safe,

Oh yeah, been a couple posts since I put one of these at the end, I know someone out there loves them.
