The Reason

SWA M&A: "Man that tittybar was BUMPIN' the other night!

ATN M&A "Yeah and those steaks at dinner weren't bad either were they?"

SWA: "Hell no man, that there was 100% USDA PRIME! But gawdang. I don't think I could drink another glass of $100 a bottle wine, You?"

ATN:" Yeah, really sux that we agreed to the process agreement. You know, maybe we could figure out a way to drag this thing out a little longer"

SWA: "$hit yeah,Man. Blame the lawyers! That's what we always do!. "

ATN: "Really?"

SWA: "Hell YEAH, MAN! Works everytime!"

ATN: "We'll give it a shot! Whatya say? Del Friscos and Mons Venus in MCO next time around?"

SWA: "$hit yeah, brother. It's a date!"

I knew you had a sense of humor. Nice post!

As I've said in the past, i'm 31...who knows how the airline industry in 20 years will look? Which airline will be the "top dog"? I obviously hope the merger is successful and SWA is a very strong company in 20 years......unfortunately history haunts me.

1. As one who studies history, you should take comfort with the knowledge that you have been acquired by the most successful airline in the HISTORY of the industry, and one of the most admired companies in HISTORY.

2. I was 31 when hired at SWA and was confident that regardless of what the industry looked like in 20 years, SWA would be a strong company. Nothing has changed in that respect.

You talk of history but don't acknowledge that the history of SWA refleccts consistent profit and career enhancement, while the history of AirTran includes strikes and s&$bs(EAL), oppresive mgmt, shutdowns, lack of profitability, furloughs, and the threat of more strikes.

If history truly haunts you, you should sleep well tonight.

If I were an AirTran dude, the only history that would haunt me would be the mark that ALPA has left on past acquisitions. And it already seems as though history is repeating itself!

I agree with your statement, but I don't want to be naive to the realities of the airline industry. Many great airlines that had pilots with a similar success story as yours ended their career not at the same airline. For the past 20 years SW has treated you great and I hope SW has at least 20 more successful years ahead. Funny enough, if this deal goes through, I need 30+ years of SW success. That is A LOT of years....I'm just saying the best one decade can be the worst the next. More reasons to have this merger (yes the SEC filing on 2/1/11 by SW used the word merger hundreds of times and acquisition only a few) be a successful one with the revenue synergies achieved in the quickest possible time.

Funnyman,

So it's agreed, SWA's worst mistake could be to acquire an airline who's pilot unions goal is to cause as much strife as possible and therefore leave a legacy that ALPA fought and to some extent won against the almighty SWA machine. Irregardless of the outcome.

I think it's great. ALPA legal found some loopholes. Too bad, soooo sad for SWAPA. Good try! Either do it fairly, or arbitrators will. I say go for the arbitration anyway, which will probably give a better result.

Bye Bye--General Lee

STREAKER!! STREAKER!!! get off the field naked man.

"FOX NEWS ALERT: AirTran Lawyers accused of doing their job by asking for a second look and also of hiding Iraqi WMD in Herndon, VA."

I agree with what you said , your lawyers are just doing their job. But what would you call SWAPA negotiating a transition agreement with our mgmt.? Apparently the majority of Airtran pilots took that as a slap in the face so excuse us if we get a little jumpy, now its our turn.
