Sounds to me like they "agreed in spirit and in principle", but upon review by Legal, some of the language needed to be tightened up.
According to an e-mail from the SWAPA President the language being reviewed is language that the AirTran people wanted in the agreement.

You know, I think most of us have realized it's going to be at least a year if not two and have gone back into just enjoying daily life mode. I can't complain, I'm getting 80 hours of credit on 18 days off, a 24 hour international (PUJ, CUN, AUA, etc) or LAS or SFO overnight at least once each trip, and with the raise we got in December, at least I'm earning a decent wage now for what I do. Not Southwest money, for sure, but with this kind of quality of life, I'm not worried if it takes a while to get it right.

We're all asking our MEC to proceed carefully, get it done right, but GET IT DONE. With all our MEC officers relatively junior (and young), they have a LOT of years they need to continue working in aviation and they need this as much as the rest of us do. That's why I'm not worried they're going to "burn down the house" or any other such thing, they have to live in it with the rest of us.

Hoping things work out sooner than later, if only for the cost savings to the new, combined company, and trying not to let the ups and downs of the process (no pun intended) get to me. Sorry this is frustrating you guys too, I know the unknowns of what it will do to everyone's seniority is a little scary, just have to have faith that it will all turn out well in the end. :)

Fly safe,

Oh yeah, been a couple posts since I put one of these at the end, I know someone out there loves them.

lol

I'm getting 135 hours of credit (74 Block) this month with 18 days off (including a week of vacation). Life will get better for you Lear70.

Lear, are you sure LH is young? I guess that young is a different age to all of us.

Well, I'm 39, and I'm thinking Linden is 44 or 45 so still 15-20 years left of flying? Yeah, I'd say he's "young" for a Major airline MEC Chairman, not to mention compared to some of our senior CA's in their mid- to late 50's. If you're in your 20's or early 30's then yes, I guess you might not consider him "young"... it's all relative. ;)

TO is 29 I think, CJ is 37 or 38, AC is 35 or 36 (best guesses, I don't have the old seniority list with DOB's on it in front of me to reference), it's a pretty young MEC for all intents and purposes, and so is the NC.

Oh I'm sure that the QoL at SWA is *MUCH* better than AirTran, no doubt about that, just saying that my QoL is nice enough to where I'd rather take the time to get it right than rush just to get on SWA pay. Yes, it's lost money, which is never a good thing, but getting it right is *MUCH* more important than an extra $50-100k in my bank account over the next year.

We can afford to be patient is all I'm saying.

Linden was 45, over ten years ago when he got his million dollar settlement for age descrimation.

He doesn't look 56, not that it matters, with the rest of the MEC and NC being younger, point is that everyone wants to be at SWA when all the dust settles, not burning the house down around us and leaving themselves unemployed with the rest of us as has been asserted by a few more *ahem* radical posters on here.

Are all the NC's SR FO's or JR? Check your PM.

How did you get the name Dicko? Just curious.

No worries. I'll be happy to tell you. It's a long story;

I was on my way to Las Vegas. I was in a good mood . "The only thing that really worried me was the ether. There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge, and I knew we'd get into that rotten stuff pretty soon." (HST)

The answer to your question involves a babies arm holding an apple.:D

You mean the Merger Committee? Senior CA, junior CA, and two mid-seniority FOs.

Lear, you guys want to get this done. You want the swa job you haven't earned (otherwise you'd be there right?) and everything else you can pillage. SWA pilots could care less if this goes ahead. Says it all.

Sundowner- Sorry about the merger. I didn't ask for it either. Go kick your dog, maybe it will make you feel better, instead of needlessly pissing off people you will be working the rest of your career with.

You and some other folks need to grow up and stop acting like kids who have been told they need to share their toys.

Ty,

That is great advice.

Hopefully you can follow it too.

S3 is one of those..."this is my first airline military boys" - who thinks the world owes him something and all he has to do is take. Having served In the regional, military and major spectrums I can tell you this: You are not in control of your companies decisions the board of directors and management will decide.

You had your flight training paid for and sucked off the government Boobs for a long time. Welcome to the real world where it does not revolve around you and your assertions.
