Anybody know if and when Atlas/Polar will hire again? Any insight on QOL? You can PM me too with the info.

Atlas is 'supposed' to be hiring again early in Q1. Polar hiring is on hold for now.

QOL (for new hires) at Atlas is terrible, based in Stantead England...24+ days on the road a month. (17 days + 3 days extension + 2-3 days comute to England)

QOL (for new hires) at Polar is awesome, Max 16 day work month..not extendable.

For Polar its a 16 day work month extendable up to 4 days, but they have to have you flying towards JFK.

It was my understanding that if you are a line holder, they can not extend you at all....and if you are on reserve they can only extend you 3 days, but you have to be home on that third day.

I stand corrected! It is reserve and it is 3 days.......

Yes. If you are extended, all the flying you do during the extended days are 'above and beyond' guarantee. Plus you get an automatic 2-4-6 hours of flight pay for each day you are out extra.

In fact, ANY flying you do on a day off is considered extended duty, even if you volunteer for it.

Here is an example:

Let’s say you are scheduled to work from the 1st-15th. If you volunteer (or are assigned, on reserve) to work the 16th to the 19th here is your pay breakdown:

All of this is above and beyond your regular pay for the month:

16th – 2 hours flight pay + any flight time you accrue that day
17th – 4 hours flight pay + any flight time you accrue that day
18th – 6 hours flight pay + any flight time you accrue that day
19th – 6 hours flight pay + any flight time you accrue that day

…this continues until you go home. Considering most of Polar’s flights are 10+ hours it adds up fast. It’s not hard to get paid for 120+ hours a month.

A lot of people will volunteer to come out a few days early and do a turn to ICN or something, thereby earning an extra 30-40 pay hours.

2-4-6 is what makes it kool to fly at Polar. ;)
