I'm pretty sure that at least one of those is to replace the Transmile MD-11 that went RIV-ANC-HKG, or something to that extent.

According to the press release, this is the flying we'll be doing, replacing Transmile. Glad to see that we're getting more planes this year!

The Transmile route, RIV-ANC-HKG-ANC-RIV requires two airplanes due to the distances covered.

Is that one route (two airplanes) the *two* DHL contacts or is that only one of two?

It will be interesting to see what happens in RIV. The locals are very much against allowing the 747. Not sure if they have the ability to stop it, though. (I doubt that the Mooney crashing in a Riverside resident's driveway today is going to improve their mood)

They (DHL) should have settled up in SAC or Mather.
I'm not even sure if they were considered. If they weren't then somebody should have opened their mouth. I know "hind sight is 20/20", but for goodness sake people it's the Socialist Republic of California. At least up at SAC and Mather you had that kind of traffic already and the neighbors are already numb to the noise.

They couldn't possibly have done that FAJ, because Airborne had already built a cargo facility in Mather...and that would have ruined their perfect record of not listening to Airbornes advice

That's pretty funny (truly). Agree or not, it's funny. LOL

From what I've read I'm not so sure the RIV nimbys are so much against the 747 as they want to use it as leverage to force DHL to get rid of ABX's DC-9's. It's the -9's they really seem to object to.

If they want the 9's gone so bad, replace them with 72's
