cfire,

That is a classic post. You guys come on this site, and PPRUNE yapping about Atlas starting up hiring and then try to blame that on Polar?
Actually, M Bryant System Chief Pilot for life blamed Polar. If the shoe fits though, wear it fodder.

I was just trying to correct my error when I found out about it. Wish that could be said of our sister union at Polar.

I've been told the posting showed up at skyjobs.net on the 22nd. Three days prior to my posting of it here. So I'm not the only one burned by it.

I am currently a 747-200 F/o doing the same type of flying as Atlas and Polar. I do not have the 1000 hours of PIC time. Would I stand a chance?
You would be in there.

Don't worry about having to work on the Polar side. Polar won't be hiring for some time.

To counter fodder,
As far as quality of personnel a United guy (also council committee member) in NRT I bumped into two weeks ago said it best, "You can always tell who is a Polar crewmember in a room without having to ask." It wasn't said in a flattering way.

I wasn't talking about quality of personal at Atlas, I was talking about quality of life.

PS - The way to find the Polar pilot in the room, he will be the one with all the chicks hanging on him. ;)

Yeah, good ole' VCP. It's not quite the same since you guys started flying down there. After the Atlas guy complained about having too much catering they slashed it to one meal each. with no more cake or ice cream. Then the other Atlas guy called the company about the "Milk Run" that had been going on for the last 10 years and promptly put an end to that. Such sticks in the mud.

Also, the girls at the Lion all say that the Atlas guys have small johnsons, and they tip like crap.

I agree with the United guy on my earlier post and furloughfodder is right also, Polar guys are bigger johnsons than Atlas guys.

furloughfodder,

You speak like your an old pro when you're really a guy hired back in late 04 at the expense of about 150 Atlas guys getting furloughed while you and Polar benefited from it. Less than two years at Polar. Your dedication to your union council is admirable but misplaced. Why don't you realize what you are or go get some professional counseling. I have not checked to see if your one of the Polar furloughed or not. If you are, then I guess your feeling what a number of Atlas guys went through.

Polar or Southern? What would you do?
Well, if you were offered a class date at both of these airlines starting the same day...what would you do?

Pros and Cons that I have so far:

Polar Pros: 747-400's, type rate everyone, bigger more stable(?) company, unionized, 16 day bids

Polar Cons: Based at JFK have to get yourself there, longer upgrade (3+ years?), the whole ATLAS/POLAR thing

Southern Pros: potential FAST upgrade (like 6 months), expanding (gone from 1 to 4 jets and getting more soon), based at home

Southern Cons: no union, 20 days out a month, sort of unproven

Any help would be great, especially from people working at these companies.

Yes, yes. I know! The decision is mine to make. So before you flame me, just remember I am only asking for input, not someone to tell me where to go..

thanks!
