Hate to tell you this but unless it was in writing, witnessed, or recorded in some way your out of luck. We deal in grievances ever day that the company said one thing and then individual crewmembers took them on their word. Later the company says it never happened and the arbitor says tough luck to the crewmember. I imagine court would be the same.

You can always sue someone over anything. It's a matter of how much money you want to give a lawyer to roll the dice.

I have little interest in such a course of action, however I am pretty sure the same thing is stated on the paperwork applicants received from the company during the interview. At the time it was to make sure that nobody complained about having their base changed to Stanstead later and a possible change in work rules or class date requirements to fill classes.....however given recent events it may be turned back on the company.

I am sure there are a few pack rats that kept the paperwork. Probably only a matter of digging it out of somebodys dusty file cabinent.

Nothing new here. Atlas will be furloughing before they start hiring again...at least the Polar pilots will have all the good -400 jobs and we can spread the word about the ScAtlas pilots.

This is from our company website:

Question: Will we be hiring any additional crewmembers this year? If so what are the projected needs?

There is no additional Crewmember hiring expected at either Atlas or Polar for 2006. First, as was announced in April, Polar's remaining Classics will cease flying at the end of this month, resulting in a significant reduction in Crewmember staffing at Polar. On the Atlas side, aircraft N496MC will be moving to Polar on or about August first, which will reduce the total fleet at Atlas to 26.

Fodder

Where are all the good -400 jobs? I been studying at TRUCKMASTER as a backup! What are you plans? I've been packing my chute since day one (force of habit in this biz)!

PS

I posed the referenced ? to the rumour board. You might be careful about posting that kind of stuff so directly (read unedited) on a public board. Of course what are they gonna do?

I just got the word on the Atlas job posting.

According to Cato's step child M. Bryant System Chief Pilot for life of Atlas Air. He advised the Atlas MEC that the origination of the posting was a Polar employee using a company email account and sending it to a number of employees. That was in turn posted on the Atlas ALPA site which I in turn picked up and put up here thinking it was legit. The company web page didn't help either making it look like they were pooling guys again. A mass of others began sending in info/resume's which was promptly ignored instead of a normal reply by Denise in flight ops of not accepting..

So I, along with many other's, got burned by another Polar guy again. Ha-Ha, very funny.

Hopefully you might become an asset instead of a continuous liability. I for one am tired of my profit sharing being p!ssed away first buying and then supporting Polar while they are used against us by AAWW.

Bobb Henderson and Robin H. have done a fine job letting everyone in ALPA know what kind of guys they are and your council. Of course that could just be the guys on the executive council saying one thing in front of us and another to your MEC. Considering how lonely Bobb and Robin are during those meetings, I would venture what they are saying to us about Polar is what they believe. Which is not anything positive. Many job sites and companies are very aware of the Polar group and not in a good way.

1000 hours PIC

I understand that they are not hiring......however here is a what if question??
I am currently a 747-200 F/o doing the same type of flying as Atlas and Polar. I do not have the 1000 hours of PIC time. Would I stand a chance?

You must have 1000 hours of PIC in something right? It can be 1000 hours PIC in a Cessna 172. They just prefer jet time, but it can be in anything.

If you have 747 time, they will hire you in a heartbeat. Now, as far as coming to this company, I would think twice about that...especially the Atlas side.

cfire,

That is a classic post. You guys come on this site, and PPRUNE yapping about Atlas starting up hiring and then try to blame that on Polar?

You are a just plane wacky.
