Got a surprise call from ATI for an interview very short notice looking for info/suggestions I have very limited experience with interviews and no jet time. What can I expect. thanks in advance

Just from what I'VE SEEN, You'll get hired and like the job until it gets slow and the furloughs come. Had a friend lose his jobs last time around, think it was January or Feb of this year?

Go to the interview. They're short pilots, you won't be furloughed. Depending on what you're making now, in my personal opinion, the pay is nice. They're owned by CHI (the same company that owns Capital Cargo Airlines). Further, ABX bought CHI several weeks ago. Companies will be operated separately. There is alot of international flying at ATI, but the bulk of the flying is in and out of Toledo, OH for BAX Global.
You'll be a first officer for a while, upgrades are slow.

Go find a PCATD to practice on ...

Are you looking for interview gouge or company gouge?

I think www.aviationinterviews.com has some ATI interview gouge.

For ATI stuff do a search, quite a bit recently and some older stuff. -kingaira90

Sounds about right, if you are looking for some other specifics then post them. Their are a few ATI guys on here. -kingaira90

I believe '05 was the last time ATI did any interviews. Theres been a complete change in management since then so there won't be any accurate gouge. I doubt the interview will be too tough. Just dress nice, be prepared to fly a desktop simulator and answer the usual BS HR questions. As for the state of the company- a few weeks ago I would have said to stay away from this sinking ship, but now since the proposed acquisition by ABX I'm feeling more optimistic about the company. I also think it's a positive that they're interviewing instead of planning a post-peak furlough. Good luck!

I'll second pretty much everything L8fr8 said above. There are still a number of wickets for us to run through, but I'm confident that there are some great times ahead. It's been a while since I've been able to say that, too! Unfortunately, upward movement will still be slow unless the rest of the industry really picks up and we start losing our own to the others, plus not many retirements ahead even if the age 60 thing doesn't change any time soon. For what it's worth, whenever we run into folks who have left for greener pastures years ago, most of them say they really miss what they did with us. Many say they'd have been better off if they had stayed here. But who could have known? Such a crapshoot... Either way, I'd definitely recommend giving it a shot, and decide for yourself as you learn more!

One more thing I'll add is that we (ATI along with Cappy, CAM and LGSTX under CHI) haven't been bought by ABX or ABX Holdings just yet. See all the other threads here regarding DHL/Astar/ABX and you'll begin to understand the complexities of it all. It's not a done deal. If/when it does go through, targeted I believe for the first of the year, I think we'll all be better off having ABX Holdings as our pop or granddad, depending on how things shake out. If it doesn't go through, I still feel that such a failure would not seal our fates under CHI alone, but things may be difficult for a while.

ATI looks like a pretty good company to hang you hat, I may give it a whirl next year.

Just got home from the ATI interview. Great experience! PM me for details. Does anyone know how long it's going to be for we know if we're in????

Flydaddy, congrats on the interview. I've heard they'll be running a class in early January, so my guess is that you should hear something in the next week or two because they usually give people at least two weeks notice before class. Good luck!

Good Luck to all that have been hired!

See you on the Line probably by March 2008.

No matter where you fly, it always takes 6-8 weeks to finish!

Yippee!

I got the call!!! I start Class Jan 15th!! -batfish

Wow, Rose colored glasses? After 15 years at ABX I think we could be out of business tomorrow!

I agree.

What's up with all the happy guys here making 60k a year when ABX counterparts are making double that with better work rules.

Don't get me wrong. I applaud the cheerfulness but when 76's that were slated for ABX start going to crews that work for half the pay, this will cause problems. Just wait.

Better work rules? Our work rules suck! Can you say juniorman every time you try to go home. Advance JRM in the middle of your days off then having to fight for the pay! Do not confuse a better contract with better QOL. The contract is only as good as it's members. The pilots at ABX only look out for themselves, cut side deals with scheduling and stab eachother in the back!

I don't know what happened with any 767s that may or may not have been slated for ABX, but the ones that we're getting have been slated for US for a long time, well before any of the current events began to take shape. You have much better scope language than we do. Use it if and when the time comes, but don't start slinging mud before the bell!

I understand. Those were not the 767's I was referring to. More "down the road" forecasting is what was intended.

Not slinging mud, just looking at it from a logical viewpoint. If Brand A costs $2 to operate and Brand X costs $1 to operate the same A/C, which one would you go with?

Scope you say? These airtight contracts are not worth the paper they were written on. Recent history has shown that.

Bottom line is we need to get your pay up to speed or we need to throttle back our paycheck. I prefer the former. Good Day. :)

Sorry to jump the gun and go all defensive:0. I was concerned with the direction you 'might' have been going, so thanks for clearing it up, and I do agree as well. I don't want to see anyone's paycheck throttled back, and unfortunately, as much as I'd like to see it, I don't see ours throttling up anytime soon. I hope I'm wrong!

I agree about the selfish OPF pilot group, but as for junior manning, only you grasshopper allow yourself to be juniored. If you do not want to do the trip, you do not do it. They cannot charge you a sick day on your day off............

A lack of planning on management/scheduling does not constitute an emergency for you. If you are tired, sick, or unfit to fly then don't.

I do not accept the JRMs I was making the point about all the back door deals going on. exp look at the cross dom. flying in Miami. Look at all the guys who have 7 to 10 days of JRM while others junior to them have only 1 day. Trading reserve days at the end of the month for Kix flying at the beginning of the month. My point was our work rules suck because pilots cut side deals with scheduling. Its all about me at this airline the hell with anyone else!

Amen Brother.

That hit the the nail on the head......

sorry if you thought the OPF or Junior manning was directed at you, It was not. I was also pointing out that the selfish pilots at our co. have been screwing us for a long time, and now with age 65 we can look forward to it even longer........

Is ATI still hiring?

The January 2008 class is full to my understanding. There is a rumor they may open up another "window" sometime right after the first of the year.

Your best bet is to check the ATI Company website, every week or so www.airtransport.cc "Careers at ATI" tab.

It's my understanding the jobs will be posted there. Good Luck!!
