Pay's been stuck where the contract left it three years ago, for those over with over 12 years of service. Only anniversary increases (a few bucks an hour) for those under 12. Insurance has been messed with, and we're taking action to undo what has been done. 401(k) should be safe as it is. I think that story may have something to do with our boss (who's now middle management under the new umbrella....) telling us we had a pension plan in the last attempt at a group hug. We don't.
Our closest competition business-wise over the years has always been Emery (RIP), then DHL, then ABX, and finally to a lesser extent, Kitty Hawk (also RIP). Our overall pay package has been considerably less than DHL/Astar, ABX, and Emery, but better than Kitty Hawk. We don't can't won't compete with UPS or FedEx. The company seemed to think during negotiations years back that our competition was Southern, Kalitta, Gemini, World, etc, even though they really do different stuff. So, like everything else in this industry, how our pay measures up against others really depends on who you ask. We've made money, LOTS of money, year after year, but the company has consistently cried over how they can't afford us. We know otherwise and are working toward a better end, which when successful, should help keep dear ol' dad from pitting his kids against each other. Can't speak for how things are at Cappy. Hope I'm on the right track with all that, anyway...
