AT diverts to MEM after pax tries to open door inflight.

The overwing emergency exits lock when all of the following occur:
● Three of the four entry/service doors are closed.
● Either engine is running.​
● The aircraft air/ground logic indicates that the aircraft is in the air or both thrust levers are advanced.

So, if you do a single engine takeoff, with a door open..you are still safe..can't open the overwing exit.
 
Air pressure from the cabin also prevents the handle from being operated. It's not just an electronic system.
