Its started...this nap has turned into a 2 day event at the outstation...no going back to ATL today for our crew.

I'm in The Historic Partridge Inn. Good thing there's a liquor store across the street.

I didn't think Mormons were allowed to drink alcohol? What, did the Mormon Church buy a controlling stake in Coors and allow "soft" alcohol?

FYI, not everyone who works for SkyWest is a member of the LDS Church, although, maybe they bought the controlling stake in Kraft Foods Inc.
Kool-Aid!!!!! It mixes well too. Oh, Yeah!!!

I love that place. Especially when you get the corner room with the massive balcony.

Balcony room... good. Inside corner room facing a wall, next to the elevator... not so much.

I love Mormons. Especially with fava beans and a dry Chianti.

Yet another reason to use the merger process to dump costly RJ's. Let's get real here, there is no such thing as "mainline superiority complex" it's simply a fact of life. Mainline own's everything and calls the shots on how resources are utilized. Mainline does NOT exist to provide RJ flying, DCI's exist at the whim becon and call of mainline to provide feed, as much or as little as they see fit, on a basis that makes the most economic sense. When I was a regional pilot, which wasn't long ago....I had a very explicit sense of reality in knowing that the SOLE reason I had a job was because mainline (not DAL) decided my regional should exist. Remember which side your bread is buttered on, suck it up, do your best and eventually you'll be able to make the transition to a better place. Don't let this stuff get you down or effect your attitude or it will shine through in your interview! If you choose to stay at xyz regional so be it, but don't p!ss and moan when you don't get your way as you see it, the mainline carriers are in the drivers seat and the regionals are along for the ride.

.....You haven't been at the mainline long, but you sure picked up the attitude quick......

You say the mainline "is in the drivers seat" and you say "mainline own's everything and calls the shots".....

Given those 2 very arrogant statements, riddle me this....

1. What would happen to Delta Air Lines if all of the DCI flying were to stop?

2. If you own all of the flying and you call all the shots, why did you allow more than half of your flying to be outsourced in the first place? Sounds like a pretty stupid thing to do for the master race.....

The fact is, it is the mainline that created this mess by outsourcing this flying. The fact is, Delta and the other legacy carriers now rely on this feed to fill the only profitable part of their operation.... the Intl. flying...without regional feed, that too would be a money loser.....

actually my attitude hasn't changed since day 1 of my flying career. I realized and accepted the reality of whom I worked for, regardless of what was on the W2....and understood very very clearly that the ONLY reason I had a job was because the mainline gave us RJ's and the flying to go with them.

What would happen to Dal if all of the dci's went away? We'd buy the rest of the md90'd from china (over 100 of them are ready to go)....and we'd be filling them up and turning a profit and they'd be flown by mainline dal pilots and we'd continue to hire from the regionals. 1/3 of my class was from ASA.

The 50 seat a/c has served it's useful lifespan and it only made sense when oil was $40 a barrel. It's going to be faded out eventually and the merger process is where it's about to start. If we do indeed merge with nwa then you can count on some paring down of feeders. my .02 worth: Pinnacle and Comair are gone within 2 years. HOPEFULLY most of those guys get hired into the new mainline. It's in EVERYONES best interest long term career wise to have as much of the flying done at mainline as possible. There shouldn't be a feeder pilot out there that is happy to see xyz regional get an additional 30-40 a/c, and who gives a rats as& if you make an extra $2 an hour to fly them and it's cuts a year off your upgrade time. By the regionals flying more and larger a/c it takes jobs away from the mainline and that means you'll be stuck at where you are for that much longer!

as for your second question I wasn't around during the time frame that over 50% of dal's flying was being sublet out (and i didn't come from a dci, i came from a red tail regional). i agree that it wasn't a smart move for the long term health of the company and it's something thats going to be addressed in the next couple of years in one form or another.
