Most junior captain is now from the 5/10/04 class. We can probably expect the upgrade to hover around that level for at least 5-6 months due to the number of people hired during the summer of '04.

Actually the most junior Capt. award was from the June 04 class, 3 guys on the ATR. I think the CR200 was the 5/10/04 Class.

Keep the upgrades coming!

If it is down to 3 years, we can easily see where the majority of the resignations were coming from.

Actually it's because there was a Lul in hiring before those getting the upgrade. That left a significant gap in the hiring dates.

The big gap came when the EMB120 was sent to the desert.

Come on folks, it's not that hard to figure out. The last class before the hiring break was in Dec of 2002. The next class was in the spring of 2004. Hence, some of the people on the finals had a 4.5 year upgrade, and the junior ones on the list had a 3 year upgrade.

There are 7 pilots on the ASA seniority list hired in 2003. That is how it jumps from 02 hires on the last finals, to 04 hires on the new finals! Crazy, but true.

If I remember right there was only a January 2003 class, then the next class was March 2004.

At 4.5 years, you should have been able to hold captain already. What is your story?

There is no story really.... I was hired in Nov of 2002 and this is the first prelim and final I have ever been on... I am in the mid 1100's as far as a SR number.

JJ,

There was a 6 month hiring freeze last summer. They went from June to November without any new classes. There's another 6 month bump, which will help the overall upgrade time. For those of us in the first November hiring class of last year, barring anything really goofy, we could see an upgrade in 2.5 years from now, possibly less.

Most of them didn't know there was a hiring freeze. All of us in the boat being hired late 2002 are now being able to upgrade. Everyone thinks it is like the rest of the regionals that are upgrading in 2 years. We all had to wait and now is the time that we finally get to upgrade.

That is exactly what Im hoping for. But the key word there is COULD. Only if I can hang around that long without going insane.....

Without going insane? Don't buy into the negativity to much. It is easy to get sucked in. Most of it is from guys who have never been anywhere else except through college and straight into ASA. There are worse places to be by far. There are also much worse jobs to be holding right.

True enough, there are places and occupations worse than ASA. That being said, I'm going to have to second JJ's sentiment. We, as brand-new, shiny fo's, slog through the three months of the training process, generally giving 100% effort. Then, within days of going online, we discover that the real, day to day line flying operations are quite a bit different from what we were fed in BI and the training departments. Whereas we had to, and did, work our collective a$$es off to get through training, the name of the game for the rest of the company is to do the least amount of work possible. In fact, I think that there might be a bonus given by the in-flight folks to the flight attendant who provides the worst possible customer service. I've been told that the ramp used to be worse in the recent history, but that is a difficult concept to fathom. This place simply doesn't seem to be playing by the rules of almost any other customer service based business. -rant over-
