You have no idea how bad the ramp was. Last summer, I spent untol HOURS sitting waiting for a gate to come open. Then additional long minutes spent waiting for the rampers to amble out with their single wands to think about marshalling us in. There will issues there forever though.

No matter what airline company you went to, you would have worked your collective a$$es off to get online and find out that it is a different world than what they preached about.

Find reasons to be positive. It takes all the fun out complaining if you give the other guy a reason not to whine. It will make your job much more palatable.

This place simply doesn't seem to be playing by the rules of almost any other customer service based business. -rant over-
Ha! Have been to Wendy's lately? Customer service is idea as we knew it. Until there is a reason to fix the customer service end of it, there will be no other effort put foward.

The worst is when youre on arrival, thinking to yourself "Man, I really gotta pi$$. Almost there... almost there...." Then, to get to the ramp, only to sit there and stare at your unoccupied gate with no one to park you.

However, I have to agree with CFI. Coming through training, we were told "Oh its not that bad. Dont let some disgruntled captain get to you." But in all honesty, I dont need some disgruntled captain to form my opinion for me. You say it used to be worse. How in the world could it be worse that it is right now?? Case in point: After calling ops to "send out some people" after waiting thiry minutes staring at our empty gate, they come, for a lack of a better term, strolling out of whatever hole they were in at a half walk, half strut kind of pace. Only then to attempt to give us the signal to taxi in to the gate, nevermind the fuel truck in the way of the right wing. And when we sit there, not moving, we get a call from 130.75 telling us the guys on the ramp are wondering why we arent taxiing in. Followed by another 20 minute wait on someone to move the fuel truck. And when we FINALLY get into the gate, the person marshalling us in... who was a ramp supervisor... asked us what the big deal was. ARE YOU F&*^*ING SERIOUS?

Or even better... when I saw a ramper run a baggage cart under the left cowl and cause a large dent in the underside, we called out maintenence to see if we could still go. Couldnt. So when they started asking around about what happened, the culprit (who was obviously unaware I was standing in the doorway of the aircraft) said "I havent driven a tug in three weeks."

But youre right. It could be worse. I could be shovelling sh!t.

I don't mean to turn this into a "who's experience with the ramp is the worst" contest, jut an observation.

That would qualify you for a spot in management.

Oh jeez... I have a whole other set of opinions for those folks after working at the house on the hill for a few years too. Can you say "Three hour lunch"?

But really G, I hope youre right with that estimate of 2.5 years for us. I reeeeeallllly hope youre right on that one.

Any idea how short we are on capts and fos on the 200?? Is there any way to get a good estimate of that??

I hear different numbers from different folks.

As the guys continue to bail the reserve time should come down as well. Also once the new deal is inked some of the lifers may even bid long call reserve to have a nice vacation every month.

All of those are former Comair birds.

Negatory...

The remaining ASA E-120s are all in Hot Springs. I believe the number is around 10. They are parked on the right as you taxi to runway 5, past the terminal.

There are a lot of Comair E-120s there too...but ASA birds are there as well.
