4.5 years here...
Most junior captain is now from the 5/10/04 class. We can probably expect the upgrade to hover around that level for at least 5-6 months due to the number of people hired during the summer of '04.
If it is down to 3 years, we can easily see where the majority of the resignations were coming from.
I got it on this last final.. !!Seems to me the upgrade was yours if you wanted it.

Best of luck. Get your Type and some PIC time and get out.
If he were to upgrade, he'd have nothing to whine about. At 4.5 years, you should have been able to hold captain already. What is your story?
Untrue. I am at 4.5 and just got the award. At 4.5 years, you should have been able to hold captain already. What is your story?
The E120s aren't in the desert, take a ride to Hot Springs.
There are 7 pilots on the ASA seniority list hired in 2003. That is how it jumps from 02 hires on the last finals, to 04 hires on the new finals! Crazy, but true.

JJ,
There was a 6 month hiring freeze last summer. They went from June to November without any new classes. There's another 6 month bump, which will help the overall upgrade time. For those of us in the first November hiring class of last year, barring anything really goofy, we could see an upgrade in 2.5 years from now, possibly less.

That is exactly what Im hoping for. But the key word there is COULD. Only if I can hang around that long without going insane.....
Without going insane? Don't buy into the negativity to much. It is easy to get sucked in. Most of it is from guys who have never been anywhere else except through college and straight into ASA. There are worse places to be by far. There are also much worse jobs to be holding right.
