Really? What are the current numbers of 50 and 70/76 seaters this year compared to the last two? Comair will be down to 44 planes by next year, and Gojets is just getting CR7s from Skywest and ASA, the same planes just recycled. The cap for those planes has not increased, and the number of 50 seaters has dropped significantly. ASA has shifted many to United, Mesa's Freedom Air was dropped, and Comair has shrunk. You don't think Delta is serious about cutting back on the fuel inefficient and costly RJs? The new FAA fatigue rules probably won't help either....

THis is also the airline that yanked all the ATRs from ASA (because they were on an anti-prop binge) then when the next spring came along, asked us to go back to Hilton Head... whoops, no jets allowed in and rwy is too short. All of a sudden Mesaba was given a bunch of turbo prop flying out of ATL.

I see DAl as a Medusa with hundreds of heads... no head knows what the other is doing, half are tangled up with others and completely inept at figuring which way is forwards. COuld also describe DAL as a fat man... TONS of middle (management), stodgy legs which don't move quickly, and not much up top. Heart attack coming? maybe

Heart attack coming? How about a fiscally smart guy who figured out how to make money and not blow it on inefficient planes and routes? Those same Saabs that flew to Hilton Head may have made some money on that route, but lost a lot more on plenty of others. 50 seat RJs and higher gas prices don't mix well together, and you need to acknowledge that. Many of the older Comair CR2s are coming up on expensive mx checks, and apparently the owner is questioning whether they are worth the expense.

OYS- you are correct with regards to the fuel and the RJ's. DAL is fiscally smart, and they're making money hand over fist. The downturn in regional flying, regardless of cause, is imminent. But who really cares? The bottom line is that one way or another, we (RJ pilots), will eventually be part of the same seniority list. Talk to the DAL check airmen and those at the top- they KNOW the pilot shortage is coming. Show some class, and a bit of respect to those that you will be working beside. Your adversion to regional pilots is perverse..... and misguided.

I don't have an aversion to regional pilots per se, rather regional pilots who can't see or don't want to see what you said above. There will be a huge hiring opportunity, and we very well may be on the same list, which is fine with me. But there are some that don't want to start over, and would rather hurt the whole industry by staying put and hoping for larger planes at the regionals. That's short sighted. Eventually there will be so much hiring that may see reserve for only 6 months total until the upgrade, which would be great for you guys. Even with that type of forecasting, 50 seat RJs still don't appear to make economical sense currently, and that seems to be reality with higher oil.

Hey Jennyleigh, he/she was referring to ATRs, and DAL's "decision" to get rid of them. Then wanting us to in there w/ RJs, great planning on DAL's part don'tya think? Anyway ATRs are very fuel efficient and carried 66 pax I think, maybe less out of Hilton with the short rwy.

Still a PUTZ!

Hey Hanoi Hanna, Delta must have gotten rid of the ATRs for some reason? Maybe you guys cost too much? Maybe Delta will try Colgan Dash 8-400s next, or maybe the next scope clause will limit those large props? Ah, it shouldn't matter to you, you've got to ride your bicycle from the youth hostile motel you are staying at in Ho Chi Min to the airport and catch your next flight to Da Nang. Just stay out there for good, everyone is safer back home that way.

next scope clause will have us at the 100 seat limit putz, so when I come back as a Capt in ATL you'll be furloughed, but hey, you can sit in the right seat and fetch my Starbucks coffee for me, maybe I'll even give you a landing once in awhile, PUTZ

Godspeed Putz!

That could have maybe happened in a BK situation, but that doesn't even look close now. Good times and profits will not lead to loosening scope. If you ever do come back to the States you may be hired to dump my lavs in ATL, and I'll be sure to throw you a half empty Desani mini water bottle and a smashed Twix bar. Eat up Mr. Blue hands! Wait, just stay with Dani, and maybe your app at Vietnam Airlines as a flight attendant will be considered? Good luck Hanoi Hanna!

I hate to feed the seagull (he's just going to keep sh!tting on us) but this is a classic!

The ATR's were phased out because it was turning into a mechanical nightmare. They were simply falling apart. Even the prized mechanics at ASA were having a hard time keeping them airworthy. It was past it's prime, and time to go.

Do you know that from personal experience as an ATR pilot, mechanic, or member of management, or is that just what you "heard"?

A choad? You wish! Actually I just got to 2nd year and got a $27 an hour raise, to the mid 80s per hour. This is actually my second Legacy job, so I do know more than you Mr. cheezditz.

Can't wait until you're my gear b1tch. Be sure you say "yes ma'am".

First, both you and Six will be my FO's going to Europe, and Box, you will always be a Non-Flying Pilot. You will do the walkarounds, and you will only sit in the jumpseat, and be quiet. Six will always be in the right seat. You won't even touch the gear handle.

Well, I do fly INTL routes, but if you are talking to OYS, then the A320 doesn't fly to any of those places you listed. Not one. But, you can go to Da Nang, which must be cool at least once....and then it's not anymore...

Is that because that is Delta SOP.......or do you plan to operate the aircraft by your own policy's and procedures? Just wondering. Maybe your supervisors at Delta would like to hear your plans.

As the Captain, you can do whatever you want. You can assign any task, and you can say who will sit in which seat (the two FOs). Sometimes it matters whether or not someone needs a landing, sometimes it just doesn't. What happens if someone needs a landing, and the plane requires an autoland? Things change, and it's up to the Captain to decide.

And who are you to say "maybe your supervisors would like to hear your plans?" I have heard that you fly naked. Is that true? Gross. What does your Captain think of that?

Hahhahaha. Yeah Lee, I'll be your FO, and Box can sit in the jump and 79%N1 can clean the lavs.
