although I have never flown for the commuters I have several friends that do.

Hey IFLY...me thinks you better re-think your personal agenda against the General... for you have successfully pissed off the rank and file here.

Even some of your fellow commuter pilot members.

Hey commuter pilot - your a prick too! You didn't ban the General for any other reason than spite. I hope you're a more professional commuter pilot than you are a moderator.

This is beyond LAME!! Fly4food should be brought infront of his CP and thrashed! A Commuter pilot is just that A commuter pilot - you bring pax to/from the majors. I bet you're a pleasure to fly with! Waaaaaaaaaaa.....I wanna go home - give me my marbles!!!!

Kook!

I think the General adds a lot more to the forum than he takes from it. He has some strong opinions but he knows his stuff. Surprised he of all people got banned.

Come on moderator. Lighten up.

Is "commuter" the new "C" word? I think I'll go call my wife one now and see how she reacts. Wish me luck.

That is hilarious! I've haven't laughed that hard for a long time!

I just want to know if ASA is going to set a more aggressive goal for 2006.

I bet 300,000 bags is not out of the question if everyone does their part...

Yep

Actually the counted bags are only passenger bags. If you include the crew bags we've got the 300 mark easy!:D

Are you talking Commuter Bags???

No, the general got a week off for being a prick.

So, let me get this straight: saying "prick" is perfectly ok on this board, but saying "commuter" is cause for being banned? Alright, so long as I know the rules, let me say this:

ifly4food, you a a prick!!!

OK, I feel better now. Welcome back, General, and don't let this prick get you down.

I'm back!!!!

Yes, I was released by Falcon Capt. I PM'd him and thanked him for allowing me back. Thank you all for your support. I honestly stated the "commuter" remark as what I used to fly in the early 90s---which was a "commuter". Now they use those darn RJs (joking, right????) and are really multi-regional airlines. I USED to fly for a commuter.

Thanks again everyone. I really feel loved now. I can't wait to stick around and comment on more REGIONAL issues. Hey, I am sorry if I offended anyone. Take care guys.

Bye Bye--General Lee

PS--here was the post from the Falcon Capt:

"I released General Lee from the ban... There was no reason posted on the (internal) ban list for the ban (which is strictly against Moderator rules, the Websitemaster wants a reason listed ALL the time)... Upon further investigation it appears it was an unwarranted ban...

Now if all you "Commuter Pilots" can relax and get back to business complainin' about pay, work rules, QoL and stuff, I'll get back to finding good BBQ...

Welcome back General..."

I was a commuter pilot until last year. I had been flying the commuters for about 8 years. I had a good time being a commuter pilot, but decided to go to an airline with widebody jets, so I could make more money than when I was a commuter pilot. I flew the CRJ Commuter Regional Jet. The Bombardier Commuter is pretty good, a little slow and weight restricted, but okay. Being a commuter pilot had its ups and downs though. I can identify with General Lee in his experiences in being a commuter pilot.

WELCOME BACK GENERAL LEE! I LOVE YOU MAN!

Ha Ha. How clever! Your a real funny comedian, a regular Jerry Seinfeld!
Commuter, commuter, commuter, ha ha ha!

PS. Now that you fly 'WIDEBODIES', I guess you better than everyone else now! I cant wait to fly widebodies, so I can look down at everyone else in the commuters....They are just scum! Poor pilots, and overall bad people!

Thanks for the good laugh 79%N1. I can always use a good laugh.

You sound like you're defending IF4F? Are you also mad about the "commuter" word?

p.s. Do you consider yourself scum or bad? You shouldn't call yourself that just because you are a commuter pilot.l

Happy Flying.

I heard on NPR's Marketplace this morning that airlines in the US lost 10,000 bags last year. Not temporarily lost (which was about 3 million bags), but never seen again lost.

I bet the USAir rampers in PHL have about 4,000 of them in their basements and garages.

I had to retreive a bag in ATL from the Delta Bag Room. This warehouse (not the Atlanta Room at the airport) was stuffed with all sorts of unclaimed bags and such. Car seats, sports equipment, strollers, suitcases, briefcases....you name it. It would be a great place to Christmas shop.

I don't care who you are, that's funny.

Welcome back GL.

In all seriousness, I never knew "commuter" was a bad word. It certainly wasn't when I flew for a "commuter airline".

Oh yeah, almost forgot, ifly4food is a prick.

There's a place in Alabama or something like that where they sell unclaimed baggage. I've only heard of it though, never been there.

So, if I'm a prick "commuter" pilot, do I get banned? I think prick cancels out "commuter". On the other hand, if I'm a "commuter" prick of a pilot, I think I get banned................oooops

Welcome back, General.

You weren't banned just for saying the word "commuter", you were banned for constantly hijacking threads into anti-RJ rants. I didn't think a week off was that bad, but you cried to Falcon and got back. Congratulations.

I hadn't gotten the memo about posting a reason. That's been straigntened out.

If you meant no malice by the word commuter, then I accept your apology and give mine. Maybe we're both "insensitive pricks".

216,000 bags. That's a lot of baggage.

IF4F, that's one of the lamest apologies I've ever seen.

That was still no justification for going after Gen. Lee. In this country we practice freedom of speech and free enterprise. This makes both speaking out against the RJ and flying the RJ okay. There's always gonna be a critic out there.

I know it's hard at ASA right now because I was just there. Don't let this stuff get to you. I am, however, disappointed in your behavior as a moderator.

Good luck.

Calm down there Mr Commuter Pilot. There is nothing wrong with anti-RJ rants. The RJ has been shown to be nothing more than a money pit that cannot generate positive cash flow for mainline. Boyd has proven and shown that some of the ASA RJ routes in and out of ATL cost more than a dollar per seat mile.

If it hurts your feeling that ASA has been a financial drag on Delta then so be it. I imagine that the General is just voicing his displeasure over the fact that Delta continues to utilize RJ's where they are not needed and a financial detriment to mainline. I would be upset too.

By the way I was a commuter pilot for almost 4 years. Its a label I where with pride.

If you think the ASA RJ routes are a financial drag, then how do you explain Skywest's profits nearly doubling since buying ASA?

What do you want?

"General Lee, I'm sorry for banning you. You can call anyone you want a commuter and say whatever you like about RJs. I was only doung what the old webmaster asked us to do: correct violations of the web board rules. Sorry if you disagree with my interpretation of those rules".

Is that better?

Touche'

It is clear that rj's are expesive. However, it is not the individual route cost that should have the focus. Instead it is the total contribution to revenue. In other words: if BNA-ATL makes -$1000 but the system contribution to Delta is +$2500, then Delta has realized a $1500 profit. The role of the rj is to feed, which differentiates it from the traditional role of a trunk carrier's need to operate a route profitably. You cannot compare a trunk carrier's mission to that of a feeder.

BTW Mr. ifly4food,

Given what you had to say about Neil Boortz, it sounds like you have some issues you need to deal with. You're allowed to spout opinion as fact, but no one (General Lee) else is?

ifly4food said:
Boortz is an arrogant prick, just like all the other radio blowhards. Pass off opinion as fact and "preach to the choir". You need not be accurate or truthful, just keep your ratings up (and the money flowing) by telling your listeners what they want to hear. Just like Rush Limbaugh and his "Dittoheads". Fortunately for us, nobody in a position of power to actually affect the outcome of the situation is taking his advice. Thanks for your opinon Neil. I'll look forward to the next time I hear you acting like the doofus you are on ATL center.
