What's up with crews not turning in the Flight Logs? It seems lately that every time I fly I'm turning in 2 or 3 days worth of these things. This is how we get paid, you know. It's not that hard to walk them in. Just another thing to complain about here-carry on.

write up the last FO on the flight log. the 2nd write-up is a visit with the chief pilot. that should get it cleared up quickly.

I've followed 2 VERY senior fo's on the 50 in the past 3 weeks that had neither turned in the logs nor picked up the cockpit.

Picking up is my biggest complaint. How hard is it to cross the seat belts and throw out your trash? It takes an extra three seconds and then you still have plenty of time to sit and stare out the window while pax deplane.

I understand the flight logs. I've forgotten a time or two but I started putting them on top of everything so when I block in, I take it out and put it on top of the flight kit.

Speaking of seat belts, attention new CR7 FOs:

You've probably heard how crabby 'ol Beal can be (if you don't know who I'm talking about ask). A good way to make friends with him is to get him an extender ahead of time and leave it neatly folded on his seat. He really appreciates this.

So you're the guy who keeps crossing the seatbelts...

Please explain that to me. When I come out to an airplane, I sit down in my seat directly on top of your pretty crossed seat belts. I then have to do some sort of backwards leaning handstand to get your seat belts out from under me, then I throw them where they are supposed to be on the side of the seat.

Amazingly they stay where put for the entire time and I sit there with confidence that I can reach down and put them on when I need them.

All nap crews pick up a newspaper to leave in the cockpit whether they want to read it or not.

I kinda like my seat belt crossed. That way I don't have to pry the ends out of the seat track/lever in order to put my seat belt on. I think the thing is to just leave the flight deck as neat as possible for the next guy. How things are arranged is a matter of preference and you're never gonna please everybody.

I would add...

- Please don't leave the company headset hooked up if you use it.

- For the love of God, please don't leave the sun visor on the track, torqued down as tight as it will go. Either you guys are much stronger than me or I'm starting to get arthritis in my hands, but I've wasted many minutes of my life trying to get those things off.

On another note, how sad a commentary is it that we actually have to have threads on how not to leave the cockpit a shambles for the next crew? What happened to common decency??

How about instead of writing someone up, you leave a note in their box? No need to cause disciplinary problems for someone over something so stupid.

I agree 100%. Don't be so quick to write up your fellow pilot. We all forget things from time to time.

Yes, I am one of those guys.

If they are loosened all the way, it is very easy to pull them out and cinch them up how you like them. No aerobics required. If they aren't loosened, it gets to be a chore and a basic pain in the butt.

The main reason I started doing this, is in the winter time, you wind up with glycol and other crap on the floor. I don't particularly like them covered with that crap. So if they go on the seat they stay clean and out of the seat tracks.
