Don't mind Joe Merchant.

He used to be a huge ALPA flag waiver. He was even involved with negotiations at one point.

Now he's mad at ALPA because the ASA MEC refused to let his girlfriend (then MEC vice chair) get him the position as negotiations chairman. Then the MEC attempted to recall his girlfriend, forcing her to resign. Then they removed two members of the negotiating committee who remained loyal to her and were working her agenda after she left. Now he has no influence in the MEC or negotiations, and he and his girlfriend are on the lunatic fringe screaming obscenities at anyone who will listen.

You are so wrong John.

I have never been a "huge ALPA flag waiver". In fact I have never been a big fan of unions. Under the "John and George" days I realized that ALPA was a necessary evil. However after working within ALPA for 12 years, I have come to realize that in many cases ALPA creates it's own problems.

I personally observed ALPA treat ASA as a second class citizen. I personally observed years and years of strategic long term errors that have put us in this situation. I then watch ALPA "true believers" such as yourself try to tell me that all I need to do is to "trust ALPA". Sorry John, that will never happen again.

In fact, I have had several people approach me in the past several months about decertifying ALPA. I believe that may be the way to go. I would rather work for Skywest without ALPA than work for Mesa or J&G with ALPA. ALPA isn't the panacea you seem to believe it is. I can speak from personal experience.

It is certainly within your rights to decertify those sobs at ALPO. I would be more than happy to provide anyone with information on how to do it. They dont make it easy but its been done before. Its time to throw em to the curb!!!

He's also a frustrated little boy! Has he taken any notes from recent meetings and not returned them? His little temper tantrums get him in trouble. The sooner the ASA pilots realize its time to recall him, the better the MEC will get its act together! This punk does not belong in ANY pilot negotiations because he is self serving and doesn't care about anyone else!

john and bos - why do you attack him, because he has his own opinion. very mature, i have no doubt that you will attack me now. these boards exist so we can share our opinion or views. every day for the last few months i have heard more and more voices like his in the lounge. does attacking him make you feel better or is that how our mec and lec treat those who dont go along with there plan?

nice - throw crap at him about his personnal life, you should be banned from the boards for that, but who would come here and rant.

face it, you are pissed for the same reasons most of us are, just take you both and a few others more time (slow i guess) to realize that our mec is negotiating like it was 3 years or more ago. be proud of this last stand boys. i was never prouder of our union than 8 years ago (2 yr fo) when we signed our agreement. now i have never been more disappointed. you have renewed my faith in management because right now i honestly beleive they are our only hope for sanity.

Well, hopefully a strike will give you some time to reflect and spend more time
with management. I sure hope the announcement yesterday about
"suspending negotiations" gets everyone motivated to slow this place down.
Everyone keeps talking about the slowdowns in `98, but I have yet to see
anything online lately. What's the problem out there?

quit being such a baby. Your actions make you like a toddler stomping and throwing a tantrum because hes not getting what he wants.

we are professional pilots who fly paying passengers.

the slower you go the less time you have to not be working...

First, we USED to be professional pilots, now we are just bus drivers for the
masses.

Second, I'm willing to give up a little free time; hopefully it will be worth it in
the end.

You've been here 10 years; I figured you learned something last time.

601 - i was a 120 fo in dfw for all but the last six or seven months. i was extremely frustrated but i still hated ca's who taxiied out and broke to come back. normally we swapped and left hours later, that was fun.

things now are nothing like then, nothing.

doesnt matter if i feel like a bus driver or airline pilot, my job is to fly airplanes and take care of the pax, not make political statements. im sad you dont see it the same.

I'm mad at the company, but even madder that Dush Angelo still trolls on our board. Even with the "ignore block" set up I can see his name repeatedly.

He doesn't contribute anything of value or merit to this discussion, and doesn't even work for our company!

Get a life, D.............(after you cuss me out with a bunch of inflammatory language like a 13 year old on this public forum)
