- I'm ready to strike for a fair and industry leading contract - as much as anything at our end of the industry can be considered "leading." I was just pointing out that the process isn't as simple as some here are making it seem.

Not fair, but more like resonable....I agree with swept...Alpa knows we aren't going to get a 20% raise and so does the pilot group. That's just an opening, just like mgmt's crap proposal. Like buying a car or house, the trick is meeting somewhere in the middle at terms both parties can live with. I think the mec is ready to deal, however mgm't doesn't seem to want to give up anything in return.

Most everyone around here just wants a decent payraise along with industry standard QOL verbage that most all other carriers have. I just want the contract to be finished(but not at the expense of caving for something mediocore) so we can move on and focus on doing a good job, fixing ATL and growing the ASA/Skywest team. All the guys going around saying that Jerry is going to dismantle ASA are wrong in my opinion. He didn't buy ASA, a hugely profitable carrier, just to dismantle it to teach the pilot union a lesson. He's a smart manager in business to MAKE MONEY for his shareholders....ASA and Skywest are doing a lot of that right now and will continue to in the future.

Yes. Worthless signs off on the Mesa contrat knowing the downward pressure it would create for all us, then expects a lot of Pilots to lose their jobs fighting that very contract HE approved.

Whatever pay raise ASA pilots get, will almost immediately be offset by a higher contribution to health care costs....mark my words.

You fellas need to concentrate on QOL, and alternate ways to make a buck rather than straight hourly rate (rigs, Open time at 1.5 pay, etc.)

Of course, the real answer is to build another career in your spare time, then tell ASA to go fu.ck themselves.

The proposal ASA has passed IS NOT ACCEPTABLE TO ME! So, don't even go there! However, ALPA's stance is NOT ACCEPTABLE TO ME EITHER!

It's time, past time really, for ALPA to get real and find the middle ground that we ALL know exists and get this thing done before we lose even more planes and flying.

Ditto, ALPA has come down amost 50% on their initial proposal of Comair +1% and has more room to negotiate. ASA has come up what 1.5%. That's movement? And don't tell me that coming up from a paycut to current payrates is movement, cause it's not.

The last payrate proposal from the company was not really the problem IMO. The PBS tied to a crappy Perf. Plus, lack of SCOPE, etc.... was the problem. You think that payrates was the only thing keeping the gap so wide? Yeah right.

IMHO, the 30 day cooling off period and super mediated negotiations are the only way to get this done. Cause neither side wants a strike. Put a time limit on them and it will get done. I saw it at TSA in 2000 and it will take the same thing here.

IMO, alpa's unreasonable pay request and continued insistance on retirement are huge roadblocks. IMO, trade those for slightly more pay and rigs: deal gets done in a way we ALL can live with.

So what's the timeline here? The way I understand this, if either party says NO to the proffer for binding arbitration, then the 30-day cool off starts immediately.

But is there a deadline for either side to say YES or NO to the proffer/binding arbitration process, or is there a potential to stall here?

If both sides say YES to the proffer, is there then a deadline for coming up with a contract, or is there no firm deadline?

again, I agree with all that with the exception of alpa payrates being a roadblock. they are simply too high and alpa has not budged on them. those rates WILL NOT FLY. come off those and drop the retirement bs for better 401k match and IMO we'll get a deal done sooner rather than later.
