If I say a word to a displaced Captain about wearing the wrong stripes and hat I hope he punches me in the nose, because I most definitely deserve it.

I don't know about the new FOM, but in the SPs a displaced captain could wear the CA hat and keep the stripes on his coat. You just had to put the FO stripes back on your shirt. I would guess it's still the same.

Absolutely correct regarding RC and the uniform items, and I agree completely that no one in ops would ever figure it out. However, I'm sure that many of the guys in the left seat you would be flying with wouldn't exactly appreciate your choice of wardrobe. I guess I am trying to figure out a balance of respect for my working piers, self dignity, and not spending any more money on uniform items.

Unless things have changed drastically in the last year, I doubt you'll find anyone still sitting in the left seat that would have any serious problem with your uniform choice given the circumstances.

As far as I'm concerned, if a displaced Captain wanted to wear 5 stripes and call himself Commodore, he'd still be welcome in my right seat. Expecting a displaced Capt to buy a new FO hat is something even ASA wouldn't do. (I hope)

As far as I'm concerned, if you end up in my right seat I'll gladly accept and even encourage you to wear all your Capt items. This is what I'll do if I'm a victim of any further rounds of displacements. Any Capts who find they have a problem with it will simply have to get over themselves.

I can't believe we have 3 pages on this thread.

I know we have some really anal captians here but if you get on board and a captain says you don't have the proper FO uniform/jacket/shoulder boards/ etc, simply tell him to get over himself and hurry up with the FMS while you go poop

After flying with mostly new hires for the last 6 months or so, believe me. I'llbe so damn happy to have you in the right seat, I wouldn't care if you showed up in a F/A uniform!!
