At LEAST half of the month on the CA side is now 150% pickup. Is this plan working for ASA? Hmm... Fly Safe and RESTED!

We still have pilots on the street... DO NOT pick open time.
We are a union and we need to take care of each other(regardless of your feellings about ALPA). Teach the company a lesson... we need those pilots back. Look at what UPS has done since they mentioned furloughs.

Your effort is useless, because our pilot group couldn't care less. Watch the red trips in open time disappear.

We need to act like a real airline and start slashing the tires of those who pick these trips up.

It's not hard to find out who the chodes are.. Open up the trips and jot down a flight number or two.

Growing the company will bring back the furloughs...Hurting the company will not only not bring back the furloughs, but could put more on the street.....Act smart, not emotionally...Things are looking up.

This company wants to grow and bring everyone back and hire more....Let's work together and make that happen.

40 going to Vietnam.. 42 recalls.. Tons of premium open time trips.

If the company wants them back then explain that logic, JB.

The company wants to grow, but it can't do that without keeping us down evidently. Is that what you are saying?

Our costs remain high compared to other carriers. We are competing for new business with many other carriers. Competition is a bitch. Hurting the company won't do anyone any favors.

There are other ways to reduce costs..having enough pilots on hand to fly the trips is one of those things you HAVE to have.

Suggesting illegal activity is counterproductive. Not to mention that you had better be packing if I catch you slashing anyone's tires, not just mine.

Idiot.

UPS's union flat out told their pilots to not pick up open time.

ASA's union has told its pilots (yes, I was in the room) to not pick up open time UNTIL it became 150% open time, and then have at it. This is just my opinion, but the union execs are either more concerned with lining their own pockets OR demonstrating to the company that without furloughs its going to become more expensive to fly the schedule with fewer people. If the furloughs were all back, it would probably be cheaper than offering 150% pay for these trips.

Oh yeah, watch out for the duty/trip rigs. They absolutely do not apply to these pickups, so don't complain about that, read your contract...

getting the furloughs back won't really help because these are all Capt trips..we need some more upgrading.

Your company figured out years ago, that it's far more profitable to run a lean company and pay overtime whenever necessary, than have staffing at levels where OT is not necessary.

Take it literally much?

Your mouth waters when you see those red trips, doesn't it?

The problem is that suggesting things like that DO get taken seriously by a few, and SOME feel that way, and only need a little push to do stupid crap. Keep it professional, even on here.

And no, I won't be picking up any time, but not because of any ideological reason. I'm not philosophically opposed to it, and I don't begrudge anyone who does pick up extra time. You people are too concerned with everyone else. Worry about yourself, and mind your own business.

If flights get cancelled due to lack of crews, it will keep people furloughed longer when we don't grow, so go ahead, be stupid and recommend that people not cover open time. Cut off your nose to spite your face. Brilliant.

If we were adequately staffed and not busy pinching pennies we would all be a little happier. How your brain doesn't grasp this is beyond me.

They could offer 1000% and it wont help. Most of us are stuck flying 4 days. Throw in the unproductive 2 day int trips and there are no days left in my schedule to pick up anything.

So Scott Hall, since I know you read this, here is an idea for you. Go back to 3 day trips. Lower your required reserves for a given day. And implement the provisions of our LOA in SkedPlus that will allow us to swap and drop portions of our trips. That has nothing to do PBS or Flightline. I can assure you that you will lower your sick calls, cover more flying, and have a generally happier, more productive work group. Or, you can continue to be a stick in our butts and we will continue down the path of operating like we did in summer 2007.

I get that. This is a different issue. The fact is that there is open time out there, and if someone needs or wants to pick it up, that is their business, not yours. If you want to improve the QOL for the reserves, you should be pulling for people to pick up the open time. Not picking it up will NOT get the other furloughs back, but it sure will keep the reserves humping for the summer!

No doubt, the QOL would be better if we ran a little fatter. I think they are running us so lean to keep our costs down until the rate reset this fall, but that is pure speculation. Maybe things will improve after that? Who knows?
