Got a call from NetJets today. I interviewed in April of 2008, was made an offer in June by D.M. and then another by R.B. in August. I just got a call from R.B. and she informed me that there will be no Indoc dates in 2009 and that I would have to re interview when they start to hire again possibly in 2010. Not good news but not unexpected either.
I feel for ya brother. The same thing happened to me three weeks before 9/11. I was hired at Hawaiian and was all ready to go to class and wammmo. I waited for years, hanging in the wind hoping and praying that I would finally get there, only to be told I would have to re-interview 7 years later

I got the gig here at Netjets last January. A couple of weeks after I start indoc, I get the call from my buddy at Hawaiian and he tells me to get ready for the inerview. I kinda laugh and tell em thanks but no thanks...I have the job I hope to hang my hat on for the rest of my career.

God works in mysterious ways. Keep the faith...If this is where you really wanna be, then stay strong and wait until the opportunity comes back around and grab it. It is definetely worth it!

You saved me from writing all of this. Exact same story here
What I don't understand is that I was told in August to "not worry" that I "absolutely have a job", I "will be working for NetJets", etc. etc. that it "just may not be until late 2008 or sometime 2009, we just don't know right now". Fast forward to this week and I am being told no Indoc in 2009 and I will have to re-interview next year when and if they begin the hiring process again. To make matters worse, some people who interviewed after me (I was in April 2008) are employed by NetJets as we speak. I was also made an offer by Derinda in June and again by Rachel in August and yet I am now being told I will have to interview again? Very disappointed to say the least. Did not expect this from a company such as NetJets.

bluefin,

What was their response?

Been out job hunting, I did not get that response from RB. I think between my response and the dire one posted, is when the final decision was made on what to do with everyone. I was told to start checking the web site and they would have an area for us "prospective", those that passed the interview process and the first phase could get updates. In the tone of the reponse it did not seem like the final decision had not been made yet.

Back in August, no one, I mean no one saw the economy going to where it is now. Many things can change in a persons l life in 2+ years. I can understand why they would want to re-interview you when we start hiring again. I know it blows. I have a bad taste in my mouth from Airtran pulling something very similar way back when:angryfire. In the end they did me a favor:).
Sorry.

I'll BS on this one until I get a message from NJ. I have some inside sources and they could not verify it after a couple of phone calls were made. If I get the same message I will post here immediately.

Actually, if you look back August is about the time upgrades were starting to hit the skids at NJ. This was the first sign.

Found out that if you were offered a job or passed any of the phases, you will have one year from the date of the offer. Since they are not hiring in 09 it is true that you are sol and have to reapply and repeat the process.

Quite honestly this may be more of an employment compliance issue and any of us in this status: Well life is not fair.

However, as NetJets did invest a great deal of money investing in the process, I would find it somewhat of a loss if they did not fast track anyone who is still interested in the organization once the hiring starts again.

If one does not break any glass ceilings during this bad time for all, it shows some character. If NetJets holds true to their values, I sense this is nothing more than an administrative morass and those who keep the faith will be hired, if they truly want to be apart of the NetJet culture. However, it is time to move forward.

I would also say this would be a good time to execute Plan B or start looking to improve your resume until Plan A (NetJets) works out.

Best of luck to all. It was a pleasure and a very good experience for me to interview with a great company and some great pilots.
