Eagle Travel Benefits

ACWild,

You think that the travel benefits at AE are terrific?! I am at ACA and the bene's that we get from day one include unlimited FREE travel on UAL and UEx carriers. This includes everything up to and including Domestic 1st class. The only thing we pay for is Int'l 1st class. And then it is a very small fee. In additon we have privledges on DAL as well, although it is $60/round trip to any destination. When you compare this to AE charging its employees for D2 passes for the 1st 5 years and not allowing you to ride the cockpit jumpseat unless all of the seats in the cabin are full it sure makes AE's travel benefits not look so good after all.

Hey man, now you're going to make me look like some company boy now... ;).
You'll get no argument from me that your company has a better travel plan, but I can only speak from my point of view. I happen to have more than five years at Eagle, so the free travel is a reality for me. Unfortunately, I can't afford to go anywhere... yet.
I never said that our travel benefits are the best, but I don't think that anyone can honestly say that they are bad. In fact, I do believe that they are better than what alot of other carriers offer if you balance the cost with the places that you can fly to in the AA system.
ACA has us beat in many other categories too, but I can't complain about our travel bennies!

The only $$ I spent to get the job with ACA was for a hotel the night before the interview. ACA quit PFT quite some time ago.

Geez!

Replying to the original post.....

I am 36 and never made more than 20K/yr until I was 32. When I was 30 I was flying Cessnas for Scenic Airlines...I still look at a photo taken on my 30th birthday of me in front of the mighty C-T210 at Monument Valley (Gouldings) airport...making $13,000/yr.

If you got into flying for the money, well you're losing the battle. There will always be some other pilot who makes more money than you, has more worldly possessions than you, has a better house and car than you, and has a better schedule than you. The battle isn't over who makes the most money, its who is happiest. I flew with a Captain last year who asked me if I had my bid in for the 757. After telling him no, he was astonished and told me that I had to maximize my pay. Why?, I asked....I'm perfectly happy on the 737.

Be happy with what you have because there are a lot of people in the world worse off than you. Just remember...flying a plane beats working for a living!

Good luck. I hope you find what you are looking for.

Cheers!

Was a po'd FO/ Hey EagleRJ

Hey EagleRJ:

Just for info. I was at AE for 18 months and I really liked it. But no pic in the forseeable future. So I was one of the fo's that left for exp I. The sf3 capt deal was pretty cool. I flew 30 -50(max) hours a month and the pay was better than AE RJ pay.

But you are correct the furlough thing sucked and I've been right seat CRJ(19 and change an hour) for 3 months.
And I've been really pissed, you know the standerd this was a bad idea thing.

But the up side is that I did hold CRJ capt this month, which still puts me here 11 months. And looking at the bid awards the last former AE fo was awarded CRJ ca as well. 51/hr at 75 gurantee for a reserve capt. ( which is what we will always be) is not to bad in my book)

This could have been a bad choice, but thank god it seems to have worked out

best of luck

burg

hey cliff

Atpcliff....

Where were you furloughed from?

I had the same experience you had...3 months of tasting the airlines....and then poof (9/11). Thankfully, i've been recently recalled, but I dont know what the future holds, things seem so uncertain right now where I work.

Hey Corey "stunsiapla",

Are you really so anti-pilot that your screen name on this board is "alpa is nuts" backwards?

Typical Eagle management.

Petey Buffington

I believe that he was discredited some time back. His book can't be that great if he needed a vanity press to publish it.

Anyone who knows me knows that I am far from being anti-pilot. If you work for Eagle, "english", you know this to be true. What does "Typical Eagle management" mean? What I have done is expressed an opinion and had the fortitude to put my name on it. In the same mind-set, should a low-blow delivered by an anonymous person be termed "typical eagle pilot"? Of course not. It is never fair to categorize an individual based on the actions of his peers.

stunsiapla,

What's with the screen name if you are management and are not anti-pilot?? Seems pretty anti-pilot to this non-management type.

I have changed my screen name to TypicalManager in honor of "english". My old one really was kind of rude, wasn't it? I tried changing my screen name to TypicalManagement, but that has too many letters.

Corey

Typical Managment,

Name sure brings chills to my body. I guess I need more K.Y.! And yes I am an Beagle pilot.

Someone wake me up from this managment nightmare!

Corey,

I'm not an anonymous poster...my screen name is my last name - English. I am an ex-Eagle pilot, so I speak with knowledge on this subject. Lastly, I'm sorry if you are offended that I outed your screenname...I used to listen to records backwards, and it kinda stuck with me...
