I am all about stirring the pot...maybe if some of you that are against it would grow some balls and help out maybe some if this would hold some merit...
Since I am no longer an airline pilot, Ill do my part for your cause and not fly those days...we'll show those bastages!

A very mature idea! Maybe pilots like you are the ones lowering the bar: those w.out professionalism and integrity. I think you should ponder some other ways to get your point across to the airline industry.

Grow some balls? How was the pay when you applied for your job, Mentor?
(EDIT: I realize that I have no real evidence to prove low pay is among your list of motivations but since you have yet to specify WHO you work for and WHAT your motivation is, even after 5 or 6 long-winded posts, I'm only left to assume... yes that's ASSume... said it before you did...
You act like none of us has ever stepped up to management before. I can assure you, some of the folks on here have done far more damage to a company than calling into work sick for a day.

What do you hope to accomplish with a national sick out? Look around at the economy and tell me such a juvenile prank is really going to do anything but bite the hand that feeds you.

Passenger airlines have stayed in business over the past few years by handing millions to outgoing CEO's that have no stake in the survival of the company while lowering costs by cheating all levels of career employees-not just pilots!

In the last 30 years there has not been a successful contract negotiation for crewmembers-ie one that gives raises that would meet or exceed the rate of inflation. (Comair came very close, but my understanding is that much of that has been given back.) If you are happy with that I'm sorry that you are willing to settle for less...I take it as a personal offense that the CEO's are making more while we make (are valued, in other words) less.

It is far past time for the airlines to be passing increased operating costs on to the consumer (where they belong) instead of taking from the bread and butter of the people that actually produce the product...and if the CEO's don't get their fat parachutes, well, too damm bad!

I have never recieved a satisfactory answer to the question "How can a bankrupt company afford to hand an outgoing incompetant nine million dollars?"

To answer your question directly-remind the head shed just who produces the product (which is the safe movement of aluminum tubing from point A to point B). They sure as hell don't, nor are they capable, current or qualified!

Anybody want to show who still holds the key to managements success? I am all about keeping a pilots job and showing them who is responsible for lining their pockets? I need some support...

Come on now, don't be egotistical. It's not just the pilots who hold the keys, but a collective group of employees within your airline. So until you have taken reservations, checked in passengers, offloaded, sorted, delivered and reloaded bags, tag carry-ons, replenished the lav juices and potable H20, dump a lav, stocked the galley, cleaned off gum from seats, vacuumed the cabin, wiped down the lav, supply an airstart, pushed the a/c off the gate, routinely doing C-checks, taking phone calls from crews with mx issues, producing a flight release, taking your sick calls, trying to find coverage for sick calls, manage a GDP out of a hub, undoing crew/ac swaps, work on avionics, fix an apu/ ac pack and change out a tire, take a 5 hr roadtrip to an outstation for a simple birdstrike inspection, rebooking pissed of passengers whose flight got cancelled, locate and deliver missed bags for pissed off customers, walk up and down the aisle delivering drinks/snacks and telling passengers constantly to turn off their electronics, seatbacks/ trays in upright positions, also, train new hires, pay the bills, the bills and more bills, manage an employee group, maintain a computer network system, keep mx records, route a/c into mx bases, prepare/send and recieve cargo, on and on, etc, etc, then you can come to me, The Almighty Captain Kool-Aid and say, "I am the precious egotistical yurtle the turtle pilot who holds the keys for management's successes, me and only me." because I'm the king of the pond. But, until then, I will try to have an extra large ice cold glass of Kool-Aid waiting for you by that front porch swing. So see'ya there, cuz I know you're getting thirsty and hungry.

^ this dude is almost as funny as ATL Crashpad these days!

ASA pilots should be working on the next contract, now. (IN saying next contract, I'm saying we should be already 2yrs + in the "new" contract and currently working on the next one).:smash:

We are working on our next contract, now.

You see it every day with our improved performance numbers.

It will never work, not only is it illegal, the one way to p!ssoff the flying public is in the form of a "sick-out" legal or otherwise. You are greatly over estimating the power of a pilot group.

OOOoohh Ooooh, but it would be like having "SENIOR DAY" again!!! We'll show them teachers...

Give me a break. Everybody will say on a webboard, "yeah we all calling in sick on May 31/June 1" "hell yeah, bring it on!"

But when it actually comes down to it, most people won't have the balls. [Too much talk, not enough walk].

Well Flyer I agree with you. People say they are gonna do something but then back down. I am seeing industry wide that things are getting bad and people just want to reply to me about upper management not sending paychecks out on time and passenger issues with canceled flights. I will not be non-reving on those days but plan on driving 4 hours to see family on those sick days with hopes that many of you will also join in with the attempt to see if we can have an effect. I am hoping that with the previous thread that pilots aren't the only thing that keeps this operation going that we can get gate agents, fuelers and all the cohesion that keeps our operations going to band together and see what can happen. I have heard from some friends today that managements in a few different regionals are offering unpaid leaves of absence and possible furloughs...with all the previous threads about management who are they looking out for now...NOT US!! They will be at the operation till your #1/2 pilot is gone. We are always so quick to think of why things won't work before actually getting in.

So to the Kool-Aid guy that got his rocks off by telling me that it takes a whole slew of people in the operation to make things work:the bottom line is that WE MAKE THE BIRDS FLY and YOU CAN'T NEGATE THAT FACT

Who do you think you are, dude? Like you will cripple the whole airline industry all by yourself? If you are so unhappy then either quit or go tell'em how you feel. You may fly them birds but to think you are the most important worker at your airline?

Looking forward to your reply.

I don't understand the motivation.

My airline is a success, that's good for my job and ultimately for my career.

I want to make a contribution toward more sustained success.

The thread is about doing exactly the opposite, sabotaging the company's success.

I don't get it.

Seriously...why even respond to the thread if you don't want to see WHAT CAN HAPPEN...are you happy with your pay and schedule...then dont reply to the thread. IF you think it can be better...then I would like your support. I expect a whole bunch of you to write how stupid you think this is, but we ultimately will never find out without support from the QUALIFIED PILOTS that we are. I know if we do all call out the CEO's, Mechanics, Gate Agents, Gum Removers, Pushback Crew, etc...won't be there to take that flight out. Once again, a failed attempt to try to get fellow pilots to see what COULD HAPPEN. We will all be lucky to have jobs in a few months anyway...Gas expected to be at $4.00 a gallon by mid June.

Thanks again to all that think it would be great to see what COULD HAPPEN.
