Just wondering how many resumes I am competing with. I thought everybody was going to Southwest and Jet Blue so that I could have my cake and eat it too at home in Atlanta.

Is 3500 total time even worthy compared with new hires?

Thanks for your help.

It's all about 121 PIC time at this point. I flew with one of the pilots who interviews and he says there's no way around it now. If you have 3500TT with about 1000 121 PIC, then yeah, you're good. Otherwise it will take some time.

Last I heard, there were North of 12,000 resumes on file.

However, don't let that stop you from applying, getting letters of recommendation and going to jobfairs.

Best of luck.

For what it's worth... I am a military guy with 3600+ TT and 2100 PIC in turbo props. I went to the Air Inc job fair in ATL in 2003 and DFW in 2004. I do not know anyone at the company. I just received an invitation for an interview. Your TT is comparable with mine so if I can get an interview without knowing anyone, I guess anyone can. Just be patient... if you can $$afford$$ to. I just got called for an AirTran interview on Thursday. Stupid me, I hadn't checked my voicemail for a couple of days (today is Saturday), so the message had been sitting there on my phone and interviews are next week. Anyway, I submitted my resume at the OBAP conference in Aug (no, I'm not African-American or any other minority or a woman). I have about 3000 countable military hours (about 3700 total military) and about 1100 countable PIC hours. I've also got the B-737 type rating. I have no idea if they care about that. Also, I know no one at AirTran.

I'm pretty psyched. This will be my first interview. With so little time to prep, I don't have a lot of expectations. However, you never know, I might get the job and it sounds like it would be a great place to work.

I am exactly in the same boat as llowwelll. I was completely dumbfounded when I got the call on thursday. I know absolutely no one at AirTran. I gave them a resume at OBAP in Orlando in August. They said that interviews are on the 6th and 7th. I am totally caught off-gaurd and not ready...

FYI
Age 26
All civilian flying
3800tt
1900 jet pic
and, not quite done with my bachelor's (1 more course)

If you really want airtan, then I would have to say that internal rec's are not all that important and going to a job fair will get you an interview if you have hours in this ballpark.

Good Luck!
(and wish me luck too)
