I fly into crq a few times a week and this is all still only just on paper. Ive been told by a few locals that the guy starting is having problems with the faa among other things.

SW can't compete against Republic rates, much less a startup with even lower rates.

To be fair, it appears that their President and COO was the Captain of the B-17 that recently made an emergency landing while on fire, saving everyone on board. Gotta give credit where credit is due.

I was starting to belittle the executive groups experience (like the Skybus guy) but it appears they at least got one guy that knows something about flying.

Running a business and knowing about flying is a big difference. Im never going to say never but I still don't see how this can take off...

He didn't crash it. He landed in a field.

It wasn't some filthy rich guy in his toy. It was a volunteer pilot who flew a B-17 to airports to share his love of flying with the general public and let many have a chance to see these old war birds for the first time while a few still exist.

The guy saved everyones life onboard. No public, just flight and ground crew, but none the less he did a heck of a job. The plane caught fire on a repositioning flight and he successfully put it down in a field. Everyone evacuated and if the fire could have been extinguished at that point the plane itself would have been saved. But the fire trucks had trouble reaching the plane in the field and she burned to the ground.

Despite the fact no one was hurt it's still tragic to see this beautiful machine lost.
