Ok what is this bit about only being able to fly american planes if you are on the american side and vice versa for usair? Is this not a merger then or is that a fence for a certain amount of time. Im asking from someone trying to get on with both carriers in the future. Unimportant now, but possibly important in the future.

I only read through the document once. It appears that once this MOU is approved by all parties, hiring new pilots off the street could stop. American has a lot of furloughed pilots. Neither carrier will be allowed to hire new pilots until all furloughed pilots from both carriers have been offed recall to EITHER carrier. So before US Airways can hire, they must offer the open positions to the furloughed American pilots...
