I think Jeffh is right. I remember UAL actually discussing this with AMR, it was one of the ways they felt the DOT would allow UA,US to merge.

I remember the pilots here at AA worried we would take some of the US aircraft and pilots as part of the deal for the shuttle.

AAflyer--Keep in mind, AE is a wholly-owned entity. I wouldn't trust any figures from that kind of arrangement. If they want to make mainline look good for Wall St., then the commuter suffers. The reciprocal applies.

It worked the same way in the pre-deregulation days when airlines treated international and domestic as seperate units for accounting purposes.

Helgeson is correct. The U Shuttle along with some F100's and RR-powered 757's would have gone to AA. Robert Johnson would have operated DC Air with Dash-8's initially. Kinda makes the TWA deal look pretty rational... ;) TC

Eagle lost money, take a look at the SEC filings, even a 3rd grader can read it. To summarize my paycut is subsidizing the fleet of RJs.

As for working for peanuts in my day, pretty sad I made the same amount on the SF-340 about 10 years ago the RJ fos make today.

I thought they started getting a bunch of 737s in 2013. Seems to coincide with when the 80s should get changed out.

To get back to the subject...

.....the point being, AMR was interested in the shuttle and was poised to get it during the UAL/US merger talks. Many things in the industry have changed, but if AMR were interested in the shuttle then, they most likely will be interested now. They already had the AE shuttle then as well.

you must be one of the BEST pilots in the world. you yell at me about passenger comfort yet leave the APU off until 10min prior to departure when the ramp is 100deg in DFW.

anyways ignore the crux of my post. why are fellow AA members stabbing their fellow APA "brothers" in the back and continually pick up open time while 3,000 are on the street?

yes we regionals are simply an extension of what YOU mainliners did in the 80's with B scales. we are now simply the D scales being employed. as far as eagle not making money you are correct, however if fuel wasn't so hi i think both AA and AE would be making money.

Of course they don't want to give it up, but it may depend on what the DOJ and SEC have to say about it. This is a different animal than the UAL/US merger proposal, but it is up to big G.

Actually they were not going to get the Shuttle in its entirety. AMR and UAL/U would have "split" the the operation. AMR would have got a few gates and DCA/LGA slots. The Shuttle would have looked like more of an every hour operation.

I believe you are correct, but nobody can say how exactly the deal would have turned out. I think it would have worked out to be shuttle service every 1/2 hour as the various carriers were to spread out their times; one at the top of the hour and another at the bottom of the hour. It probably would have worked out better for they flying public that way.

Again, the main point is AMR was interested then, and may still be interested now, if made available.
