AMR Jumpseat Attire

To sign up for the J/S on American are you required to be in uniform? Does it matter whether or not they give you a seat in the back or not? If a uniform is not required what is considered acceptable attire. Thanks.

I have jumpseated in button shirt and slacks, so i don't think uniform is req'd

Biz Casual

Ive js'd more than a dozen times in biz casual (khaki pant with collared shirt) in both front and back with no issues.

True. Of course walking around the terminal dressed like that is unacceptable as well. But there sure are a lot of young guys who think its OK.

I think business casual has become universely acceptable for jumpseat attire. I don't know of any airline that require a uniform or any dress code that is above & beyond business casual. There might be one out there but none that I'm aware of.

Horizon requires uniform or coat and tie. However most of the CAs don't enforce it very strictly.

Depends on the airline, I suppose. I can't speak for any other airline, but Southwest's cockpit JS dress code says no beards. On the other hand, I did't know that Jetblue allowed pilots to have beards. I've only seen beards on pilots from European airlines.

A jumpseater is, by law, a working crew member. So, the mask must seal for them, too.

At Horizon a tie is not required!
Sweater and nice Jeans is acceptable...but feel free to wear your tux!!!
