I'm supposed to be in that class that starts on the 21st. I was faxing all my paperwork to HR, called to make sure they received the fax and CP told me class postponed until mid Sept. My buddy is back in ADS for the Lear and he said it's probably due to the Alaska oil pipeline that is shut down raising fuel prices making AJI is very slow right now. I'll wait for this class as long as it takes because i'm NOT going to a regional!!!
Dang, that sounds like an a$$hole interview question to me. If someone asks you that in an interview, slowly get up, walk over to the interviewer say "thank you" and the POW right in the kisser.
The current schedule is a combination of 10/4, 9/5 and 11/3 during certain months for a total of 110 days off a yr. If we were to go to a 5/2 schedule we would lose a few days unless they gave us a couple back at some point in the yr. The biggest problem with a 5/2 schedule is that we have alot of pilots that commute from home to their base.
Mass exit...? which mass exit? to go where? Are Oil prices going down? Are Legacy carriers hiring again at full and steady pace? Is the federal reserve lowering the rates? Is aviation booming again? Has this happened overnight or didI miss something during my days off?
Maybe the new schedule will help me keep in touch with the real world!!!

Yah I believe it would be weekends although I've heard some variations on the rumor. Been hearing more and more and thinking that this is probably a little more than a rumor in the company. It'd be bad for me because I really would have no life. I don't know anyone @ base and drive to my hometown on most of my 4 or 5 days. With the rumored schedule it would be almost impossible to stay for more than a day and then drive stright back. I actually like the schedule now as i'm sure most in our company especially the commuters do. But even the non-commuters such as people with wives and kids would only be around for a day and a half and back onto the road again. As we all know this is not a 9 to 5 type job where you come home every night and say "hey honey how are the kids and is dinner ready.". But I suppose theres nothing I can really do except voice my displeasure and hope the company listens to the pilot base. I'm in it for the long haul.
"A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on."
I hope it is just a rumor; there is no chance that a company like it would be able to keep enough pilots in the roster at the current conditions plus such an obscene schedule if it gets approved.
mgmt should know better...even if crew scheduling had a meeting in the past days with the D.O.
