I've been hearing a rumor of a pay raise here at AMF. Anyone know any details? I figured I'd go to the official source (FI) since we wont ever hear a word from Burbank.
 
I don't see how my drinking has anything to do with this! Besides, isn't time at the outstation "my time", at least that's what they say when I get 9 hours out here...
 
You've probably heard the same second or third hand rumors I have.

"They're working on one by the end of the year, and the ones getting the biggest raises are the chieftain and second year 99 drivers."

Really though, I haven't seen any solid evidence that the company is working on a raise, and I definitely wouldn't hold my breath about anything happening before peak, overtime and all.

If you would have taken the ACP, you'd have a huge raise!
 
Wassamatta, is the extra $0.13/unit not gonna cut it when you go from yr 2 to yr 3 pay?? You should know better than to expect to keep up with the cost of living!

Not for newhires maybe for the guys that have been here for sometime. (From an official source, just in talks right now).... Im full of it tho
 
I heard a rumor that a potential pay raise was going to be front loaded in favor of the Chieftan and entry year 99 guys, great-come to AMF and come year two and thereafter you can enjoy a pay raise that won't even cover the cost of a tank of gas!

Regardless, all the pilots warrant a good raise across the board, to keep AMF competitive with other operators, to entice new blood to join us and reward the loyalty of those who have stuck around.

I'm being idealistic, gotta stay off the booze!

I heard the same thing from a division manager other than my own, somewhere to the effect of comming in October... as in a couple weeks...

Unfortunatly I hear that it wont be much for the guys that have been around a long time, but I figure if you have been on for many years its not the pay that is keeping you here...

Exactly.

There's good people at other bases too, but management in SLC is 100% behind the pilots unless given a reason not to be. I think that's pretty rare in aviation.

To be a general pain in the a$$, downing airplanes for stupid stuff, doing a halfass job, then coming on flightinfo and calling the place dysfunctional is a slap in the face of some really good people.

I'll always remember the good times I had hanging out with the SLC gang outside of work, and I'll always appreciate the efforts of the ops manager and former ACP to make it THE place to be. If it's not anymore, then those pilots based there need to look in the mirror, because it sure as hell used to be.

There's no reason to leave a maintenance base to fly to an outstation with a plane that's already broken. If its broke, it's broke.

It's kinda funny to see someone who spent nearly the entire time in SLC bitching about the place and desperate to leave being AMF's biggest fan here on FI

And yeah, at a base where seeing pilots do stupid things on a weekly or daily basis like leaving ladders on, taxiing to the wrong ramp and trying to start planes with the snubbers in a lot on the dysfunctionality comes from the pilots. Maintenance isn't exactly a saint either...

If more people did postflights, it wouldn't be an issue. There's also a difference between preflighting and looking for a reason to down planes just for the hell of it.

The entire time? Hardly... I was there for over a year. Yeah, I wanted out at the end and it was a good move for me. AMF's biggest fan? Nope, but I'll admit I'm a fan. Its got its issues just like anywhere... but I've been treated well here- especially during my time in SLC- and so have you.

Dude I'm not trying to pick on you, but I don't really see the logic behind coming on here and bashing it in public for what amounts to pretty much nothing, that's all. Lots of places hiring, nobody forced you into the Metro.

I heard you had to kick so much rear end around DFW that you tore some ligaments in an ankle. That was the manly version at least. If you just stepped wrong off a tube and twisted it I'd keep it to myself. The first version sounded better. :P

If it makes you feel better my last raise was $3 a day for a grand total (after taxes) of $400 for the year. After the boss gets her cut I might have enough left to eat out with you guys in Dallas again.

Are we getting a raise worth staying for or what...

No.

It is cheaper to train pilots and than it is to have a group of senior pilots making lots of money.

Curious if you have any numbers to back up your statement, if increased pay and better working conditions reduce turnover, I think money will be saved over the long term.

Whilst I have no expectation of making "lots of money" at AMF, I think all the pilots regardless of seniority deserve a good raise.

No specific numbers, I've just heard it from 3 different companies so I'm starting to believe it. :) lol

I guess I should have been a little more clear, I was being sarcastic before.

We had a couple of chilly mornings up here in the Northwest so the "pimp hat" was atop my head. My dear sir, good taste costs money so AMF won't be issuing them soon!

I must admit I'm no CPA but until proven otherwise I will stick to my assertion on this matter.

You would think that good pay and working conditions, good morale, low turnover with those that do leave passing on a good reputation of AMF plus a fistful of resumes from applicants knocking down the door to work for you would be a good thing-but hey I'm a line pilot and must now submit myself for drug testing under the company's "reasonable suspicion" clause!

A pay raise?........to senior guys?

First of all, look at the point you are fully vested in your 401k. Is it still 5 years or something like that? What is the average tenure of pilots these days? If it's like it was when I was there (and I have a sneaky suspicion that it is), then there is no, nada, zero, zilch interest in keeping someone past a few years. Let's face it, AMF isn't a place to retire. Never was meant to be.

If you're not networking on the next gig by the time you're out of newhire class, then you are a step behind already. Me, I ate a lot of beanie weanies, tuna fish, vienna sausages, etc. and saved for a 73 type......now, I eat what I want!...when I want! And, it feels good to sleep at night (you know when it's dark):D Yall be careful, hear?
 
Scrapin' squashed possums off the side of the road and taking'em home so the boss lady can fry'em should not qualify as eating what you want. Yeah, you can afford better now rich white landowner, but I've seen what you shove down your gullet.
