Doing a little career research, and was wondering about American Eagle. Their web site says their minimums are 1000TT & 100 ME. My question is, how many people actually get on with these low times? Anybody know the quality of life a FO gets with American Eagle? How about schedule, pay scale, financial status, etc. Not ready to transition yet...maybe in a year or more...still enjoying flight instructing and charter. Just curious.

Thanks

eagle has stopped hiring for the time being due to the uncertainty of how many "flowbacks" from AA are coming in 2005 (from the anticipated 450 furloughs). once these are settle they will either continue to hire or perhaps furlough.

due to the flowbacks, the upgrade times at AE are fairly long. 7-9yrs right now for a jet captain, however it appears to be tied directly to AA recalling of the flowbacks. if this ever gets going, AE upgrade time will come down.

if you look at www.airlineinterviews.com they were hiring at their minimums until this december when hiring stopped.

I am not so sure if Eagle has stopped hiring, do you know this for a 100% fact CitationLover? I think things have just cooled off over the holidays. I keep hearing something different everyday. I would say that if you meet the mins you are probably competitive.

www.eaglelounge.com has all the info you could ever want or need

I know a guy who started class in early December. I think that was the last class of the year, could be wrong though.

Good luck...

Approach eaglelounge cautiously, and take it all with a grain of salt!! It seems like we ban all of our worst pessimists to eaglelounge.

Eaglelounge is a waste of time, unless you are into unprofessional bashing of AA/TWA flowback pilots, mocking of management and general griping and bickering.

Way too much negativity over there.

from talking to the people i know in the training dept. that is what i heard. i hope they keep hiring though, as people in the trng dept are always the last to know. i think they may still be interviewing to build a pool for a class next year if the number of flowbacks are less than anticipated.

just call AMR and ask for eagle recruitment (Karen i think is her name). ask her.

Eagle will most likely hire sporadically in 2005 to keep up with attrition. Lately we have had numerous FO's leave for greener pastures (lots at LAX to Skywest, for example). It also depends on how many flowbacks we get. The new reserve system that takes effect 01/05 is supposedly gonna be quite hard on the ole QOL.

English,
If eaglelounge is too negative then stop going there.

And this place is much better? :)

I spend very little time there anymore. There is an inordinate amount of bandwidth devoted to the never-ending "When are we getting the EMB-170?" stroke-fest.
