We got word from the company that effective immediately, they are accepting resumes for new hires. All of our pilots that were furloughed are either back, or declined recall.

If you're interested, fax your resume to 817-963-2004, and they'll send you an application. Minimums are still 1500/300, or 500/100 for aviation university graduates with a letter of rec. from the dean.

Eagle's hiring! great................

sweet

Under 2003 rates, starting pay is $20.60/hr. After probation, the pay for FOs is $23.24 for the Saab and ATR and $29.21 for the jets.

Right now, new hires may get the ATR in SJU or the Saab in LAX. Some new hires have gone right into the jet, and usually they get LGA or BOS.

yes I can confirm it...I read the email myself from a chief pilot.

Any truth to the rumor that 50% of the furloughees declined recall. If so, why?

Oh, nevermind. I think I know the answer. Pay and work rules suck ass.

It's time for one national pilot union. It's criminal that there are flight attendants that make over $70K a year at the same time there are pilots responsible for peoples lives that make less than $20K a year.

You sure can tell who the losers are by the comments. You should be so lucky to get a chance just to apply. Who said that you had to stay with Am Eagle. You would be flying a line and building up valuable flight time and get paid to do it. $20 plus/hr is better than what you make flipping burgers. What's wrong, too lazy to get off of your fat ###, or is your significant other making too much support money?

There is nothing wrong with Am Eagle. Other regionals have their problems too. People gripe about Mesa, ACA, ASA, Con-Express, Comair, etc. So what is your problem?

"or 500/100 for aviation university graduates with a letter of rec. from the dean.........."

Do these guys have to enter a pin # into their TCAS software so other aircraft can keep their distance?

How many College Deans watched these guys make a call at 2:45 am regarding a maintenance item go/no-go decison in crappy WX, while company managers or shippers were beating them up.

I wish them luck in building time. I've been there too but 500/100 isn't enough on average.

LMAO :D - I would not doubt it, surely the captain will have atleast one or two bibles up front and may even request a priest onboard most flights.

500 & 100? What a fuc$in complete joke.

Hagar17,

what happened to your post? i though it was right on the mark. did you delete it or was it censored? what's going on?

I deleted it, dude. I just don't have the energy to engage in battle of wits with an unarmed person.

Bridge program

Interned with AA ORD in 2000. When I was there the big draw was that you didn't compete against the general hiring pool. Instead, there was a second pool just for interns. Never applied (didn't have the times) so I'm not sure if this is true. Anyone ever heard of this and know if it's still in place? Commited to another 8 months with my current job but thought I'd ask.

Dutch, I don't know what the exact agreement is for former interns, but I think it's just a handshake type agreement. I interned in Fall 2001 and was just in Lisa's office the other day to hand in my app to her. She has a stack of about 10-15 apps from former interns that she is walking over to Claudette.

Hi!

The reason that a lot of Eagle (and other lower-paying and less desirable airlines) pilots don't come back is that they find jobs that they like better, or just as much, and they don't want to change.

The better the flying job, the more pilots that come back. I met one guy a few months ago that was furloughed from Eagle as an FO. He was flying a DC-9 as an FO. I don't know if he came back, but if he thought the Eagle job was better, I'm sure he went back to Eagle.

It's the same in a pool. A lot of guys in a pool, don't come out as they've found other jobs. Guys in pools for great jobs like SWA, generally swim until they get on with the carrier.

PS-When I was looking for a flying job, I tried to get an interview with Eagle. They called me, but they didn't interview me as I wasn't in a flying job at the time.

I met a guy a few days back who declined because he now gets better schedule and pay to fly charter and doesn't have to deal with relocating to San Juan to get back his airline job.

This may be a long shot, but how about candidates that were hired just prior to 9/11, then got the letter hiring was suspended before a class date could be issued ?

Aviation University????????

Define Aviation University.....

Is it like CommAir Academy

Or would Purdue, Ohio University etc. be considered?

Not quite so...

I was just in an In-and-Out Burger and saw a sign that they were hiring. Starting pay is $10/hr. If you are a full-time worker (40hrs per week) you will make $20,800 for your first year.

A pilot starting at $20/hr with a 75hr per month guarantee will make $18,000 for his/her first year. I know that you get per-diem and get more days off, but if you figure in a commute and crashpad, you'd most definitely make more flippin' burgers!

Sad, but true.

I would much rather make $18,000 flying an RJ or an ATR or even a C152 for that matter than making even $30,000 as a manager at an In and Out Burger. But thats just me, what do I know

Any eagle guys out there got any insight on schedules/days off?
Believe it or not I'm only interested in that SJU base because it's close to home.

Reserve pilots almost always get just 10 days off a month, and they've been flying a lot recently. The reserve lines are five days on- two off, with one block of four days in a row off per the contract.
The regular lines vary between 10 days and 15-16 days off. There's no telling how long new hires will be on reserve right now. A lot depends on what equipment and base you get, and how many people we hire after you.

SJU usually goes most junior in the new hire classes. People usually either want to be based there or nowhere, or they don't want to go there no matter what. Someone who's based there would be better able to answer your questions about the flying there.

I can confirm that they are hiring from a university with 500/100. A guy from the university I am attending just got hired with american eagle. Times are looking better. Slowly but surely!!

I'm an aviation major at the University of Oklahoma. We have a bridge program with American Eagle. An instructor recently got hired with American Eagle with something like 105 multi hours. I don't know if the 500/100 applies to just us or all universities.
