Neither... they were built specifically for AA. The AA Airbus A300's were the 600R if I recall. The Pan Am and Eastern jets were of the -B2 series. An earlier generation with analog and a third seat. Someone here might have have more detailed info than my limited knowledge on history and aviation.

757s? Why worry about the 757s now? The 757ERs are probably working well on the thinner Euro flights. I assume they are looking domestically.

How about look at the grubby, maintenance-hog MD80s? Talk about fuel inefficient. Plus, they look so old and worn inside - not impressive at all. I would think a big Boeing order of 800s and 900ERs to replace the MD80s (how many MD80s does AA have now - 250 MD80s?) and 757s would make a lot more sense. Why introduce a new type rating to the mix?

The only way I could see adding the A321 would be for a really huge order of A320s (MD80 replacement) and A321s (maybe domestic 757s) to justify a new type rating and operating experience. Those A320s/21s would probably fit well with Jet Blue's fleet.... But I guess those decisions are waaaaaaaay over my pay range.

Merger with Virgin America. Carty's coming back. He hadn't screwed up AA enough. It's gonna be ugly; get out that KY jelly!

This is kinda funny, a urinary olympics about which "twin" is better. Not to be a smarta** but I would rather anything made in North America over Euro beer cans at 370.
