Who was quoted saying American would never operate another Airbus product? Was it Crandall or Papa Don Carty? I don't remember.

Why not just buy 737-900ER's and keep a common type rating? Unless they are trying to get a common fleet type for their future merger partner (US or B6)?

6 posts until someone brought up a merger. That was longer than I thought it would be!

Merger with US Air? Geez, I hope not. I don't think even the present AA management is stupid enough to do that . . . . again.

If AA ever goes with another Airbus, it'll because they get them ultra-cheap.

Thats why a lot of airbuses are sold.Price-Price_Price.With the rapidly changing technology, airlines go for cheap use and discard airframes.Lower cycle limits dont seem to matter today.

I sure miss the mad dogs,oh wait, there still flying.

read on another board AA could get 25 777-300s from another carrier.

Ah who knows...been lots to talk about lately.

The 737-900 is a replacement for nothing. I fly it overseas and it is a dog. It barely has enough guts to get out of its own way. I do not believe that it could even operate out of most of AA's South American cities. It has a limited role that it is good at and is in no way a replacement for 757's.
