How was Lyle Prouse the Captain of the Northwest flight able to return to as a pilot after serving time in prision, while the two pilots on trail in Miami are never going to be able to fly agian?

Should they serve five years for what they did?

Not at all, I was just curious how the cases were different. Reading over my post I could see how one may think that was my objective. Yes, I do feel they should not go to jail for four years.

I was just kidding, thought maybe you were trying to justify a personel problem. Coming from an airline guy that has been there and done that ( not the flying part but hanging out at the bar till early am)it is easy to have happen especially when a female is involved as happened in MIA. We all mess up and the captain should have just called in sick and avoided the whole mess. Who feels like flying when you are all hungover anyway. Our airline has really cracked down, no drinking unless on 24 off period.

Capt. Prouse admitted guilt.

He served time in federal prison.

He started over and earned every rating from private on up all over again. Nothing was just "reinstated".

He was rehired to NWA as a newhire.

Sounds to me like Capt Prouse did the AmWest guys an incredible favor by setting the precident that it can be done if you own up to your mistake and truly want to fly again.

I'm guessing this is not the first time Capt Cloyd had a few drinks before flying. Wonder if FO Huges are "drinking buddies." If not , how could the Fo go along with this, from looking he was hired in 1999. He had his whole airline life ahead of him.

Prouse also admitted himself into rehab immediately after his arrest. Although I don't think he came back as a newhire. He spent his last year as a captain after only a couple years maybe in the right seat after his return. Very interesting story.

Mr. I.

The two AWA pilots went to 28 days of rehab in AZ the month after. Not defending them, should they go to jail four to five years?

I also believe he spent time inth school house

I think he was allowed to be an instructor at NWA, while trying to get back to the line.

Prouse was able to get back on the line because he claimed he was an alcholic and the American with Disabilities Act prevent employers from firing someone with a disease.

Nymphomania is a disease. Keep that one in your back pocket for a "red card." ;)

I was a flight attendant at NWA before I got on at CMR. I knew Lyle when he was on the 72 and flew with him on the 74 when he came back. He came back as an FO on the 74 and then upgraded to 74 captain and that was where he retired. He is a great guy and I was always glad he came back!
