I just talked to a friend at AWA who tried to get in touch with TT yesterday, but her voicemail picked up and said that she would be out of the office for most of the day conducting pilot interviews! Anyone else get this recording? Anyone interview?

This same friend also said that a fairly senior Captain (for what that's worth) confirmed 29 Sept as the date for the start of interviews.

Anyone with any more specific intel?

If Sep 29 is the start of interviews, then why was she out all day yesterday conducting pilot interviews? :-)

Good luck!

I have never heard of a company starting or even conducting interviews on a sunday...

Oppsahh,

It seems that you can't help but to keep BS. going, you are acting just like some 12yr little girl. The rest of us have moved on on the previous subject but it appears that you are still there. Grow up!!!!

about the 29th......

Good point! Sunday!?!? What was I thinking?

I think someone, somewhere has their dates flubbed-up.
Most likely me.
(that dislexia thing always seems to sneak up on me)

At any rate, I try not to spread false information, let alone information that I cannot confirm. My appologies.

I"ll tell you what, since I don't have the time to go thru this again with you I'll lay it out for ya. WE HAVE MOVED ON YOU ARE STILL IN THE PAST. BTW you don't know me dog, and thus you have no facts, if you feel that you must carry on a dead subject, be a man about yours and PM me and we can discuss it there.

No worries, I think that we are all just in a hurry to hear something. How long ago did you fill out their application? I hope you hear something soon...

Dog!!! Slang for homie, partner, my brother.

You are using terms like "peace out" that come out of the hood, I guess I thought that you would understand...

See ya.

A New Hire class is scheduled for early November. Cant remember the date though. Rumors have over 230 hired through 2002-2003. A vacancy bid just came out with over 70 new Captain slots but no FO slots. The company plans to fill these with new hires

24 yrs to go

Ok, call me stupid but I got lost somewhere. 70 capts slots open no FO slots but AWA will fill capt slots with off the street pilots??? This is way too much info for me to process all at once so speak slow!!!

All you AWA guys that interviewed 18 months ago that got hired and never called for a class, get ready to study those flight control laws! I hear that all new hires are going to the Airbus. Good luck to all of you going to AWA!

Been trying for nearly 2 years to get over there. Maybe NOW something will happen....
I heard (as everyone seems to "hear" something) that they prefer people who already live in PHX. For a major, I don't know why they'd care. But what do I know....

Its not mandatory to live in Phoenix. Most do commute but that is tougher than it used to be! I would guess they favor this as AWA has been a training camp for United and SWA for many years. I know they are interested in hiring people they feel are going to be around for the duration instead of using them as a stepping stone

AWA doesn't have a training contract but they have in the past had a problem with people leaving for the big 4. I think that they now only look a people that they feel will stay. How do you tell???

WD.

I don't think AWA has to worry about anyone leaving for the big 4 at least for the next five to ten years as I do not see any hiring at those airlines. In fact, I have been hearing that it will be 5 to 10 years before the recalls will begin (I doubt it will be 10 years).
I wish I had gone to AWA instead of TWA three years ago (especially since I was living in PHX at the time) as at least I would now have a job instead of looking at 5 years plus as a furloughee from AA.

You would be suprised that many leave for Jet Blue and ATA. I think that it's really more of a thing of the past though.

Got called today to set up an appointment in order to fill out necessary paper work. Sounds like they plan on spooling up very shortly.

I called the job hotline number this morning and the recording says they are NOT accepting new resume's or applications at this time. (1-877-AWA-4JOB) Their website also says they are not accepting applications.

Those of you who are getting called for interviews, were you already in groundschool? Were you waiting for a class date?

Anyone have info on when they will accept new resume's or applications?

Yes everyone being called right now is from the pool in early 2000. I believe they will be calling others soon.
