crj567 can babysit if he wants, but I'm with the majority that don't see the problem. Many times my flight attendents go eat somewhere by themselves. They go to the mall by themselves at the overnights. Is that dangerous? crj567 is proof that some pilots just like to complain about everything.

I am not complaining about the fact that FAs come and go from place to place-the safety issue is not my primary complaint. The gripe I have is that Jumpersaway seems hold them in such contempt-just look at the nasty way he refers to them. You should read his previous posts-it is very evident that he doesn't value their work or have any empathy for them whatsoever.

Everybody keeps saying that, and I'm not sure how they are coming to this conclusion.

I did a search of all 3 day pairings for next month, and it seems about 1 out of every 5 or so has one layover less than 10 hours of rest. Those that do, it seemed like they were mostly on the high side of 9, so the flight could easily be rescheduled to get 10. The rest of the pairings had longer rest periods, and still had high credit.

And that's if 10 is the rest rule. We don't even know what the rules are yet!

I'm not sure, since I don't build the lines. :) As far as rescheduling flights, the schedules come from Delta, not us, so no can do. We fly what Delta gives us, which is the primary reason the schedules have degraded so much in the last 4 years. No purity in the schedule = crappy trips that don't repeat week to week.

My point is, once the rest rules change, the airlines will have to factor in crew needs into their marketing schedule. They have already admitted that this will happen, they're just waiting for the final rule.

I agree that ASA won't have any control over the schedules, but Delta will be having the same issues that we will.

Sure, it will make things interesting. Delta has the big advantage of being able to do whatever they want with our schedule, and their own for that matter. No matter what we do, as long as we are a regional we will have to deal with that fact.

I think it's not a big deal either. The FA will be transported on the hotel van to the hotel. If the FA stays in the hotel to eat, brings own food, or goes somewhere nearby how is that unsafe? Many already leave the hotel to shop etc if they have the time. It's the usual deal, a few vocal minority trying to get everyone concerned about nothing. C'mon you're big girls and boys, you can do this! As a result we have a decent selection of lines next month, so it's good for the pilots!

Hoser
ROLL TIDE!

Oh, and CRJ-

For the record, taking care of my crew is the top priority and always has been. However, it's a two way street- on the road, we're a family. If you don't take care of me, I don't take care of you. If you do take care of me and contribute to the "family", I'll break my back to help you out in order to ensure things go smooth for you.
