wow...touched a nerve of a couple of swa dudes (dudettes?) I'm honored.

OK I lied!!! I didn't average 162...Jan thru April I averaged 169.465 trips/mo.

Jan-171.28 tfp, 10 nites in hotel, 73.25 hours flown
feb-159.09 tfp, 11 nites in hotel, 90.15 hours flown
mar-174.64 tfp, 9 nites in hotel, 82.39 hours flown
apr-172.85 tfp, 8 nites in hotel, 80.59 hours flown

average scheduled line is 93 tfp, 8.66 nites in hotel, 80 hours flown

f/o (granted I'm fairly senior which helps mucho), never called in sick, no vacation taken, I like this math

If you still don't believe me...boo hoo

luv ya, mean it, mabey not,

ok, so clue me in here. Are you doing VJA a lot? Tell me how you can get 170 trips with 80 hours of flying and only 9 or 10 nights in a hotel because I want to do the same!

well I'd love to help but if your senior to me that would be a little counterproductive now would'nt it...so heres a clue...wait! you already guessed...VJA baby. Sadly, it seems to be drying up this month with all the newhires FINALLY coming on line. Relax...I'm not complaining about newhires for crying out loud, in fact I'm hoping to go to upgrade in june courtesy of all our wonderful new newbies flowing in. The more the better. Please note too that my original post was to inform those NOT at southwest already about our supposed lack of a retirement. DB v DC and all that, and show what a little creativity with schedule management can accomplish. Not a "real retirement"? In the past I would've been inclined to agree, but after watching the suffering and stress of those with a DC plan I kind of like ours now.

ONLY MY OPINION

with all due whatever,

Well, I know you're not in MDW. Not much VJA going on there.

you must have a pretty good deal going if you have the luxury of "choosing" between SWA and ALO.

dont other people usually make those kind of decisions for you?

Well, if quality of life means anything....

I just got my bid award for next month. I'm very junior at Aloha (less than 100 hours) and I have 17 days off next month, all grouped in blocks of 4 or 5 days off at a time. And, I have a line!

That cheered me up in a hurry!

English... If you are a commuter & all you are looking for are days off, you are right to be stoked in being awarded a line. Don't forget though, you are being paid the same money the first year whether you are a line holder or reserve.

You will fly significantly less on reserve, especially since the -700's have been picking up some interisland flying. Therefore, the best bang for the buck year one is to sit reserve & maybe find some flexible part time work since Aloha's first year pay is the industry's lowest.

Welcome Aboard!
;)

VJA? I've heard of that.
Did a 2 day last month paid 32.5 trips.
You guys that fly a line for 100 trips work too d@mn hard :)

I did a turn (Day Trip for those not familiar)for VJA in January that paid 18.30 . 2 legs to LAS and a deadhead back. Long day but worth it!

Thanks for the welcome, Gettor!

Yep, all I am looking for is days off. Gotta get the jetskis out into the water this summer, you know?
