With stops where? I thought that the 800 had less range than the 700.
I'm not on the 737 but i've been told that if you top off a 700 and you top off an 800 then yes the 700 will go slightly farther (a few hundred miles)...however...at least the 700 that AS flies compared to the 800 that AS flies the 800 is more economical because you can actually carry more people the same range or farther than the 700 because of the extra seating/weight capacity. Or said another way...an 800 seats 25% more people but does not burn 25% more fuel than a 700. AS has been running ANC-ORD and SEA-MIA for awhile now and it has been found that of the 3 versions of NG that AS flies - the 800 is the superior airplane for the long stage lengths. Accodring to our dispatch folks most days we won't have to bump more than 6-8 people off of our LIH-ANC flights on some days - but that's still 150 passengers. The most limiting factor supposedly is the take-off performance out of LIH during the winter when there are nasty alternate requirements because of wx in SEA.
