What a complete as***le in that seaplane. His behavior was the unacceptable part of that tower tape. I never knew an airspace transition was a guarantee.
I did the same thing.. I sent him a fairly nasty email, and believe or not he emailed me back. Here is what he wrote...
YOUR COMMENTS ARE AN UNFAIR OFF TARGET HIP SHOT, for the following
reason:
The seaplane was never even within 5 miles of the emergengy acft. The
emergency aircraft was on 120.3 and the seaplane was on 135.25
(different
freqs) so the tape is MISLEADING (tape has both freqs recorded) 2
separate
controllers, 2 seperate frequencies. If you don't believe us, check it
out.
The controllers allowed a helicopter to land at the airport during the
emergency yet vectored the seaplane 5 miles away. Weather was cavu and
there
was never any danger of any type collision...not even close. Special
procedures are in force for seaplanes to transit the area low over the
water
(500 feet or below) and seaplane was in process of following those
procedures. The seaplane did not operate contrary to the ATC
instruction.
The additional vectoring was not necessary. However, despite all of
the
above, the complaining was illtimed and inappropriate.
