A minor point. The earnings you see posted are for Allegiant Travel. Allegiant Travel also happens to run an airline. The gross/net revenues include all income from the sale of show tickets, local transportation in LAS, hotel rooms, etc, etc. That's not to say Allegiant isn't a well run business, but the numbers are not just for an airline operation. A significant portion of their overall revenue is from things not directly related to the operation of the airline.

Please don't infer any negative connotation from my point. I'm not implying anything other than there is slightly more to the story than simply saying Allegiant (the airline) made money. Allegiant Travel Company made money. Allegiant Airlines losses/profits are diluted by what the rest of the Allegiant Travel Company does.

I don't think many people really understand what Allegiant Air is.... It's obvious by the many posts about our airplanes always on the ramp on Tuesday's and Saturday's, as well as a post like the one I've quoted.

Ask our CEO what we are, and he won't say that we're an airline, because we're not. We are a travel company that has airplanes.

Without all those things you mention above, we are nothing. Our travel company has agreements in place with a great numbers of hotels, car rentals, tours, Vegas shows, etc and we sell many of these items on our airplanes.

We aren't in business to fly people between point A or B and Vegas, Phoenix, Orlando, FLL, and Tampa. We are in business to sell vacation packages and add-ons to vacation.

I'm curious... Do the vacation packages that NWA Vacations, US Airways Vacations, or Continental Vacations fall under the same profit or loss that the airline falls under or are they reported differently? My bet is they don't....

The bottom line.... Allegiant Air made money.

Give me a break. Every airline has agreements with hotels, car rental agencies, travel agencies, etc. Do you sit and break down what AMR earns for American Airlines, American Eagle, American Way magazine, AA Credit Union, AAdvantage Miles revenue from credit card companies, the real estate they own, the gates they own that they lease to other airlines, code sharing with other airlines, the contract maintenance they do, the Rolls Royce engine shops they have, the mail contracts they have with the USPS, the cargo they carry, the list goes on. Most of the successful airlines of today are still around because they don't just generate revenue from flying airplanes.

You need to drink some more coffee and wake up.

Reread my post and see if you still see something negative there. Quit being so freaking paranoid.

As to your point, Allegiant is more heavily involved in vacation packages, show tickets, and hotels as a percentage of their business than any other airline. That's neither good nor bad. It just is. All I did was point that out. If that offends you, you need to grow some alligator skin.

Did you miss the part where I said Allegiant was a well run business? Did I not make an attempt to let you thin skinned types know that I wasn't trying to denigrate Allegiant?

As I said above, that would be because that's our business.

We don't want to fly people from our base airports to an outstation. You'll find very little, if any, advertisements in any of our base cities. We don't want those people... We don't want business people either.

Our business is vacations.... plain and simple.

Allegiant guys, can we borrow your management to come and teach ours a thing or two about how to have a successful business plan?

I hope we can continue to have the success in the future with our business model. That really sucks what is going on with Midwest right now two my buddies just got furloughed and I’m really pulling for them over here. Hopefully we start hiring again in the next couple months. It goes to show the old 80 can still be a real money maker.

I'm sure they could work out a lease rate on upper management. This could make ancillery sales look like chump change!!

You now have 37 airplanes. Get a descent pay scale and start making what a MD80 Capt. should make.

Here we go...again. As I'm tired off typing notes responding to the same childish/uninformed drivel, I'm just going to post the response to a previous, and equally ignorant poster.

Enjoy.

For the sake of comparison, consider the current 3-yr plan negotiated by our in-house pilot group: Allegiant pay for 10-yr captain will exceed narrow-body 10-yr captain pay at NWA, UAL and US Air East. Keep in mind, that figure does not include the Allegiant bonus ($5K-$10K in '07)

We are a very new company and our mid-term pay exceeds that of much larger, more seasoned airlines with union contracts that have been negotiated for decades.

Ok, how about a "Descent Pay Scale Checklist"
