Let's do a little math. 6 years ago we accepted a pathetic contract for our pilot group. We have been enduring its woeful inadequacies month after month, day after day, year after year. We complain, we cast aspersions on management, we get sick, we miss our families, but what do we really do about it? Well, this is your chance to make a stand. Win or lose, you can make a stand. Stand up and be counted. You will still have your self respect if you lose, because you acted in a way that you thought was correct and just. Back to the math. 6 years ago our compensation package was set. It's 6 years later now and inflation has taken about 14% of your compensation. If we simply agreed to no changes to our current contract, then we will take a 14% pay cut. Furthermore, at the rate of current inflation (14% per 6 years) you will take another 7% pay cut if we merely agree to keep the current contract for 3 years. Are you willing to take a 22% cut? If you agree to concessions, then you are going even deeper and further backwards. You do the the same work as Stevie Viagra at the major airlines, and some of you guys are smarter and more skilled. Don't be a weakling and accept some bully demanding your children's lunch money and your mortgage payment. You can crush the bully by voting no. The union and the company have become cozy. We are bigger and more powerful. Your vote is your power. You deserve better. Ask for more.
