But this is surely a small issue compared to your fight for SCOPE.

Of course it is, and most pilots who visit this board know it. It's just not the only issue, and it's the proverbial deadhorse.

As for airport standby--I would think that be would more a function of how many flights depart late, because we have a 2-hour callout. According to the union, it's an almost insignificant number. I think the union would fight it tooth and nail and the company just doesn't need it.

I'm not diggin on this call in well stuff!! That's what we have sick leave make up for. I called in sick a couple of weeks ago for a 3 day! Felt better on the 3rd day, was able to do sick leave make up, only missing 4 or 5 hrs! Pretty good thing!

Sounds like the company has the potential to stick you with some crap trip if you can't re-connect with your original trip.

Example, the 4 day, MCO,SAN,HNL,SEA. Are they going to block seats on a round trip SAN flt plus pay hotel just so you can re-connect? Or, are they going to have the option to throw you on the reverse of this trip, which we all know is a ball-buster, landing in MCO at 0630, and leaving that night!! Or better yet, how about that stupid sitka 30 hr layover!! It seems those or some other all nighter is always sitting in open time!

Be careful what we ask for!! I see them abusing something like this in a big way!!

Can't we have both options ?? Call in sick and sick leave makeup ... Best of both worlds ??!??

Why do you assume calling in well would require fewer pilots? It's not that different than sick leave make up. Either way, the choice is yours when and how you want to go back to work. Sometimes you only need a day or two to recoup. As it is now, you have to call out for a whole trip. When you feel better, if you want to protect your sick bank, you have to pick up or roll the dice with sick leave make up.

There has to be something open for sick leave make-up. On another point, does this mean I HAVE to call in well? I call out sick for a doctors appointment on day 1 of 4...on day 4 of 4 I am entered in a marathon and win...an I know in trouble because I didn't call in well. If I call in well can they ONLY reconnect me with my trip or am I fair game for anything.

This smells fishy to me. I just don't trust the company. "The company wants it".... not good for the pilot group. Just do sick leave make up, if you so desire, and let's leave this pos alone!

You are only in trouble if you win the marathon. So you probably have nothing to worry about.?

Sick leave? Give me my scope, money and ability to trip trade. Oh and by the way we are done giving.... I hope

Any rumors on company's pay proposal? btw, we have nothing else to give them since we've been bent back in 2005! It's take take take, then take some more time!!!

I've been on negotiating committees before, and normally at this point in the process, both sides are at extreme positions as far as pay rates. All of the more nuanced issues need to be resolved before you can really start talking turkey with pay rates. In this environment, I would suspect the company is offering something like 2% for the next six years, while the union position is probably something like Delta parity + 3-5%.

If you don't think we have anything to give...then you have no idea of some of the good things we do have in our contract that are worth protecting.

Or put another way...yes it still could get much worse.

I guess you are a "post Kasher" child so let me rephrase. Since we were raped in 2005, we won't have anything else to give them except my turd!
