I haven't heard much about them lately. Are they still hiring? How is life at Alaska lately? Is LA still the junior base?

Thanks

Any word on WHEN they're hiring? I understand they took Sept., and maybe Oct., off from interviewing. I was told this was due to the MD transitions filling the 73 department for a couple months. Are they currently interviewing?

Last rumor I heard was a newhire class of about 8 per month every month for the forseable future. i don't know how that relates to interviews but at least that is a good sign for those that want to get on board.

Hopefully during that time Horizon will get properly staffed and LaMar will let us go and interview.

Two classes of 8 per month for now.
Planning on hiring 150 pilots in 2008.

No idea about early retirements in 08.

All I know is that we're going to be severely under-staffed. To be properly staffed, we need to hire 300 pilots in '08, which is definitely not going to happen.

Scheduled retirements for 2008 is 47. Average of 55/year from now until 2032.
5-6 cancelled flights per day for the last couple of days due to pilot shortage.

5 reserve lines in LA this month - none w/ weekends off....Unreal! Lots of open time to choose from though.

Baja.

I ran into an Alaska pilot while walking from the hotel to the terminal in SNA a couple weeks ago. He was walking from where he parked and he lived in socal.

Does the LA base include SNA as well?
